@thefabulouspotato: 博士 is a noun meaning "professor; doctor" and is typically read as "Hakase", but as a given name it can be alterantively read as "Hiroshi". Given his reaction and flashback, apparently it's been a long time since anyone at school had gotten his given name's reading right, and Arisa did it despite only learning it just now, so he feels unexpectedly grateful (reflected in him backing off while pretending to be still stern, and being inattentive enough to hit his knee on a desk in the process).
