Whole arc felt very unnecessary

I disagree, to an extent

Everything that turned her into “the ice princess” has been resolved with this arc. We see throughout the story that she has a (perceived) poor relationship with her parents, feels the need to contain her emotions, and can’t allow herself to get close with anyone

We see her struggle with all of these things over and over again, and this arc finally lets her overcome those issues and become “free”

It could’ve been executed better, for sure, but I believe the arc itself was necessary

Considering the novel goes well past this, I wouldn't call it stretching.

Why do people want romcoms/romance stories to end as soon as the couple gets together? That always seems like such a waste of time, since the whole point is their relationship.

It's like ordering dinner at a restaurant then leaving as soon as you finish the appetizer.
