I used to think the stories about this getting censored were true and wrote this off as a series that would never get proper payoff thanks to the powers that be, but then I came back and reread all the chapters here, and I no longer think that's the case anymore. Let me explain.
The story feels more-or-less cohesive up until that one side character classmate who was crushing on sun jing tells her not to go after qiu tong and then... nothing. That plot thread is completely dropped and is never brought up again.
As for our main pair's relationship, it's admittedly very casual but after qiu tong's very bold kiss after that party I think it's safe to say these two are in fact dating but are just very low-key about it.
Then slice-of-life hijinks continue with notable occurrences being sun jing beating the crap out of a creep and then kissing qiu tong back after a ferris wheel ride. While nothing major happens aside from that the updates still seem to continue off one another. No further conflicts arise until sun jing realizes her grades are slipping and gets an ultimatum from her mother that her free time will be limited. One would expect this to strain things between the main pair as sun jing needs to get her grades back in order but...
again, nothing. This is when updates start to really get sparce and disconnected and the most that we get are periodic illustrations and some lighthearted moments like this one.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the censorship never happened, it's just that the details got muddled up. What actually got interfered with was the author Tan Jiu refusing to remove sun jing's initial confession to qiu tong which prevented a physical release for a volume 2 for this series. But overall nothing I have seen suggests the author has ever been kept from continuing the series as a webcomic, which is evident because we're clearly way past that point.
So what's really going on? I think the author just doesn't know what to do with this series anymore, plain and simple. Twice already elements have been introduced as a way to spice the story up and have been subsequently abandoned or forgotten. It's just speculation but the author may have not have ever had a real concrete plan when creating this series. The pacing early on is kinda hard to follow with frequent breaks in the story for gags and now that's more or less all we're getting. I get the feeling the only real intent for the series plot in the beginning would have been sun jing fucking around with her schoolmates while crushing on a girl from another school, aka "alternate universe Nan Hao Shang Feng with a yuri subplot". The author then may have gotten invested in the main pair's love story which ended up becoming the series' whole identity, but now the series is in a weird limbo state because the author themself can't decide if the main pair is really dating or not (ironic) and doesn't know what to do after the fact. Hell, the author could have gotten completely bored/burned out from writing a cohesive plot altogether. That's as far as I can speculate. I probably don't even know what I'm talking about anymore after trying to figure all this out. All I know is based off the series alone there's more signs that there's problems with the author rather than govt interference. Because if series like "Please Bully Me Ms Villainess" can get away with multiple sex scenes between girls then absolutely nothing should be preventing this author from getting just a little bit creative with the plot.
