That sounds fairly normal (in Asia anyway). I live in Vietnam which is right next to China. We study 8 hours at school, usually ending at 4PM. After that, most would go on extra study for 2-3 hours. The remaning time of the day will be for dinner and showering and homework stuff (both extra study and schoolwork), usually staying up until 10-11PM so yeah, normal stuff.
