I see... So this is one thing the WN handled better than the LN.
In the WN the heroes weren't given this chance to improve, they were left to their own devices and suffered a lot. They did learn from the event however.
In here though, they did recieve some guidance, but they gave up. It may make sense for the spear hero who is reckless and Itsuki who's a selfish brat, but what happened here pretty much makes no sense for the sword hero. The sword hero is the youngest, and therefore he's immature, but he is still rational and aknowledges his mistakes. I can't see how he would react the same way as Motoyasu and Itsuki this time around, specially when they had just proven that the heroes a lacking. IT makes no sense for him tonot go through with the training, it's simply not in his character to do this.

This is getting kinda dumb. It's frustrating how arrogant and idiotic the other heroes are, even though they've done noting but lose the whole time. But the bigger problem is that their characters are still paper thin. We're nearly 50 chapters into the manga, and they haven't developed one bit since the beginning. Their entire personalities are just that they're against anything logical / anything Naofumi supports. It's really poor storytelling. At least give them some better reason for being douchebags than just being plot devices.

@Hollow7F @Qelix IIRC she was stripped of status AND name, and was further renamed by Naofumi to "Bitch". he was offered the chance to just execute them, but he thinks that having to be called "Bitch" is a deserving worse fate.

@BloodySorcerer: I've only read the manga so far and therefore I see no reason, why the sword hero might not act this way. It might be, that his character diverts a bit form his WN and LN counterparts, but I don't think so. He did get a change of heart after getting his ass kicked. He was willing to do the training sessions and lectures up to some point. In the end he is just a child and it got frustrating to learn the old fashioned way, after being pampered by everyone before. I figure he is also still surrounded by people in his group that keep constantly telling him, that he's the best around. And then presented with the alternatives of learning the usage of Ki with a low success rate and slow growth rate or on the other hand levelling up, like he already did and knows it works in his favour, he made a bad decision. He just rationally believes he is on the right track. I see no contradiction here.
