It's okay, you didn't know and I got busy with other things and couldn't release the chapter "in time".
My translation is complete, I'm still waiting for redraws to finish (had to ask for outside help) and proofreading still has to be done.

Usually, a series is considered abandoned if the group previously working on it hasn't been updating for 5~6 months (for what I personally know).
I would still suggest to try and reach out just in case.
It was also quite ironic since I posted this on twitter just a couple of days ago

While there are mixed views with regards to sniping, it is generally viewed as a negative thing since, as many people on this thread pointed out, the snipes usually are seen to be in bad taste because they're mostly rushed and end up worse quality which quite often provide worse reader experience in general.

If you didn't know about this beforehand then it's not as bad as when it is done intentionally, just to spite the previous scanlators or just for clout. You also did apologize, and seem to understand that it might have been, let's say, not nice, so that's another good point.

From this point onward you have few options on how you'll proceed. One I'd suggest is - if you did like doing the work (translating, editing, etc.) you could try directly contacting the group that's been working on the series, out here or maybe on their discord server if they have one. Maybe you'll be able to help them and work on it together, or get some tips and advise so you can carry on with another work in case they don't require assistance at the moment.

Either way as long as there's some sort of understanding then there will be no unnecessary drama and everyone will be happy: Me! (because I get to read more Yuri), you! (because you get to do what you love), other groups! (because they won't feel like they've been doing their best for nothing), plenty of other readers! (who will enjoy all the works you'll put out as you get better).

Quite obviously, yes. Why does every group that snipes have such garbage fucking quality? Surely they feel some amount of shame.

It has nothing to do with snipping. Don't just attack a scanlator bc of uploading a chapter that wasn't yet. It's their first time and it's understandable it would be bad. More than criticizing it, encouraging them would not only motivate them to do it better the next time, but make them feel supported too. I truly belive sniping isn't something to blame, there's nothing wrong in having someone doing their own scanlation and faster, even if the quality is worse, you can wait to re-read the chapter when the other group posts it.

The main thing I'd say you should improve is text sizes, if it unmatches the dialogue bubble, it feels a bit strange.

I agree with this. I had never heard of sniping up until recently I went to one of the comment sections here and there was a war zone about it. I’ll see sometimes there’s multiple translations of something and had never thought anything else of it other than oh i guess two people wanted to translate it. I can see why it’d be annoying to go through the effort and then have someone else get it out faster and maybe lose clout ig, but seeing a good amount of people just assume bad intent and immediately start getting passive aggressive seems so out of left field to me. I’m not sure if sniping is as widely known as people here seem to believe and I can see other people not knowing about it and accidentally stepping on a landmine over a misunderstanding.

For the other peeps that literally were "criticising" well try to be constructive and if you cant do that, just dont be aggressive to them, being a little polite wont hurt anyone, even it can calm you down as well
