Trying to both decide whether the flower motif across the cast is significant to the plot, and to not go digging into possible meanings for the flower motif across the cast and any potential significance to the plot. The former, because it's just this side of seeming intentional to the point of having literary purpose, and the latter because I feel like it's a fool's errand to get sucked into the "what if" game to that degree with nothing else to go on at this time.

But at any rate - Thanks for keeping the series going, though. Rindo is ..........well, I'm sure she'll not be actually objectionable as the story goes on, and is just there to be shameless and to push Emma's buttons in a way almost no other character seems able. (Everyone needs their kryptonite, after all.) The rest of the council seems interesting; I'm betting Yamada and Mashiro end up together, assuming other pairings are on the menu. They work too well together immediately for anything else in my mind.

I'm still kinda surprised that Emma's true feelings were revealed this early on; I thought it'd be left more ambiguous for longer, to keep the tension of obfuscated motives drawn out over at least the first half of the narrative leading into the turn toward the second act. But, Yuama-sensei knows what she's about, so I'll trust that there's plenty of drama on the way even knowing the hearts & minds of the characters. It's not like that'll help mitigate the hurt that's sure to come as they pine for that which they cannot have.

Honestly, I don't know... at first I was just going to say "well, 'yuri' (百合) is japanese for 'lily' so that's probably why" as a very quick response, but then I remember that flowers can be associated to people to some degree (kinda like astrology) but that's something I'm completely foreign with so I can't really elaborate on that

I quite like Rindo instead, she seems quite peak (and in my headcanon, she's a red-head like me)

We NEED the drama, we NEED the pain and suffering

Rindo's character is just kinda not for me, subjectively. I realise she fits a specific archetype and it's not inherently bad; just a matter of taste in terms of "would I want to associate with someone were I in this universe?" ...and for me, I just don't get along with people like her.

More power to those who appreciate people like that. I've learned to steer clear of them for everyone's sake, because I just end up trying to "one-up" the behavior out of annoyance and it leads to bad situations all around and dissolved friend groups.

you are aware that Rindo did that to bring the two closer, right?
you don't have to like it, infact you wholeheartedly disagree with it, but that's her way of approaching this situation and making it move forward, so to speak.
people like that are often more help than you might realize.

Wow
Suzuran is wallowing in self pity. Emma just wants to talk too so that's got to be rough. I love how realistic Emma's internal concerns about getting ghosted or things changing are for someone pining in her situation.

I did say I just don't get along with people who behave like that.
There are other ways to be "helpful", and while I am indeed aware of what she did, all I'm saying is it wouldn't have helped me.

She was one of several characters introduced, and she's not gonna put me off from reading the series.

But did what she did really accomplish that though? They both seemed like were they left alone that they'd have talked everything out regardless. There's drama between them, but there's no real extended conflict between the two that felt that it needed a third party to try addressing. Especially one that isn't particularly involved in what's going on.

A salient point. Remove her from this chapter, or just have her stay asleep on the couch, and tell me Emma and Suzuran don't see anything meaningful occur between them.

I get she's an archetype that's hard to escape in manga, and not every character introduced has to cater to me (or anyone) specifically. But apparently subjective tastes that are pointed out as such will still upset some people.

how come mc is taking advantage of a person who secretly likes mc and who proposed fake dating mc to make mc fall in love for her and out of love for mc's cousin? emma is the one taking advantage of suzuran, and the pain emma is feeling is the consequence of situation emma put herself in, the one i feel bad for is suzuran

and rindo has the same personality as emma in the first chapters, i don't know why you hate one but not another

Emma has had multiple chapters worth of panels to flesh out her character, p[lus that was just one-off, it's not her entire personality. You could easily say the same for Rindo, but this is the first time she's introduced, so it's all we have about her, she'll probably get fleshed out later as time passes, but disliking a character because of the only thing we know about them at the moment is completely valid.

Show me where I said I hate Rindo.
I even stated that it's a 'me' thing and that I don't do well with people like her, and that she's likely going to be fleshed out and not this one-note going forward.

Those aren't the same thing, and I'm baffled as to why you and apparently at least one other person here appear to take personal offense at my not immediately loving a character based off their introduction.

Thanks for the TL.

About Rindo, my main complain (about her as a character, not necessarily a critique of the narrative) is just how immature she comes off. You don't just "shoot your shot" to the president of the student council in front of another student council member. Like, I'm so inclined to believe she is really lonely if she's this desperate to get Suzuran's attention. Unlike Emma who actually comes up with a deal for Suzuran. Emma is just a lot wittier, while Rindo is shooting a half-court shot while blindfolded.

I wonder how Rindo's flaws will be contrasted with other characters, given that Suzuran's biggest self-perceived flaw is how she feels she is using Emma to cope with her own broken heart. Unbeknownst to her, Emma feels similarly guilty for using Suzuran's heartbreak to get closer to her.

sure, i was just wondering if the greasy flirty trait was the problem or if the problem were who had the greasy flirty trait, that is a major part of ch 1 and the consequences of being like that as well as disregarding another's feelings

I think she is meant to represent a specific kind of "playgirl" who is trying to cope with something else by flirting and poking at others, especially because she says she got dumped again, implying something similar might have happened in the past.

I very much like her character if I have to be honest, she seems very interesting as a new addition to the cast.
Also, completely, 100%, fully unbiased, but I do think Mio has red-hair

Right now I'm starting to work on chapter 6 already, which seems to be very interesting on how things will evolve, and the world building that will come afterwards...
