also it would be nice if for once he would let Katou be cool instead of perpetually sweaty-shocked and getting bailed out at the last second by Asada

before the internet, in the asian eyes, both US and EU are the same white people called the west. this series is quite old so they might not access to internet back then. remember this series started at 2002 and internet just started getting popular globally (16% of the total population have internet in 2005).
