Weird vibes from this one. It seems normal at first, then you realize that he's slowly becoming a vampiric serial killer because a video game menu told him to.

For anyone wondering about the harem tag and the young girls.

Yes there's a harem and yes it's with the girls
They're elves and join his party and fall in love with him. They are older than they appear. I think their appearance does change because of something he does but I might be misremembering this part. He does romance the elves though.

Holy shit, this is way better than I thought it would be. Nothing deep in terms of plot, and the art style is simple but clean. Started out super generic but damn they get right into it with the killings and ruthlessness. Honestly it ramps up a lot. This is one of those mangas where I can’t wait to see where it will be in 5 years.

I like it. Thanks for the translations! Looking forward to more!

It's somewhat better than many other Isekais but author should have not used 40y as a template.
Author clearly lacks understanding what people beyond certain ages think and do. It's feels like a younger person trying to imagine what a 40y is but not really knowing what 40y something is.
While Japanese people are "polite" they are not so polite as to accept absurd things or do not expect to be dissed by younger people and answer with politeness.
Lastly after reading novels reviews his dungeon crawling is the start of sharp decline in quality.
He indeed starts having sex and builds harems but is being used by everyone especially any female request is essentially an order. As a person he basically has no say, he later on portrays and whines about being anti-hero who is a bit jaded and will not help random strangers but backtracks his words as soon as someone requests for his help.

Doormat hero with cringy remarks of not being a hero.

The second it turned to vampires and adventuring, it got awful. Generic as hell doormat hero with an edgelord split personality that straight-up murders people which doesn't actually bother him at all. Women seemingly only exist to push the mc around, and he just goes along with it all.

At least when it was just him finding a footing and helping people it worked as slice of life fluff. Now I can barely see who this is for, and they won't be able to find it anyways because the start has a completely different vibe and focus.

The only credit I can give it is having him reincarnate into an older body than his previous one. I've never actually seen that before. I don't know why they did it, as it has effectively no influence on fhe story or how he acts, but y'know, points for doing something new I guess.

Is that it? Is it done at 21 chapters? Chapter 21 gave the vibes that it was the last chapter.

Manga is quite pleasant, especially if you're isekai slop enjoyer. However, manga was axed and the source material is not worth it.

Honestly its quite remarkable when you think about it.
About how much effort mangakas put into slop to make it palatable, from dialogues and fixes in pacing to adding details that were not present in the story in first place. Its also remarkable how much good will is granted to Japanese media, and how well oiled the wn pipeline is, so that tens of thousands of people across the globe will read a story that is worse in quality, than for example a fanfiction written by a 14 year old and posted on the net that only 20 ppl will ever see.

If someone told me that this was written on a mobile phone during morning commute I would 100% believe it.

I started to read the WN after the last (21th) chapter of the manga was posted on Mangadex, and I'm at WN chapter 446 (out of 567)....

I my opinion it's a shame that this manga was axed and/or was planed to end here...

While there are points were the story ain't the best, there are also insanely good parts! It's a fun story, and I would have loved to see it manga form.

Btw, at WN chapter 446 Akion still has only 5 luck. :kek:

The worst part of the WN is, that the TL was/is using MTL with zero PR.

Agreed! I went through the whole thing up to the most recent translation of the WN and it’s actually really enjoyable! I skimmed through some of the grindier parts of his dungeon crawls but the way the plot progresses and little quirks here and there are pretty entertaining. I would have loved if this got a continued serialization. I really want to see how the mangaka would’ve drawn some of the future characters, like Ilchea, and the Queen of Zahlm.

Yeah the lack of proofreading fucks me up because it almost always messes up the pronouns so you don’t know who’s talking sometimes.

This is just one of those many stories that takes a little while to grow into its own. Shame it wasn’t continued, really. The next entire arc is nuts.

Hmmm... Summarizing ain't my strong point...

As of WN chapter 571 his stats are in the 4 digit range, but he has still 5 luck.
The number of his skills is enormous.

The one who was in control instead of the MC while the skill was active was the late Vampire Emperor, who died a long time ago.

Akion goes back to the Royal Capital, and he finds the "hooded kids" in bad shape: They are starving and are sick. One of them is on the verge of death.
They should have been safe with the copywriting jobs during winter, but strangely they can't find any since ages, so they are out of funds.
Akion gives them food, and potions from the game, while he discovers that they are elf girls.

Akion checks the Adventurer's Guild, and he find that someone is deliberately hogging every copywriting job, but he gives also them away when asked. Akion concludes that someone is targeting the girls, and most likely because they were found out to by elves.
But in the meantime the girls disappear. They have been abducted! Without any other leads he goes after the dude he saw at the Guild: He tortures him by severing an arm, and immediately reattaching it via healing magic. (An aspect what will get forgotten by the author for a long time, later it gets established, that the success of limb-restoration is related to the wound's age.) After the torture Akion mercilessly kills the guy, and goes to the kidnapper group's hideout, and kills every thug.

While freeing the captives they encounter a 4th female elf.

The 4th elf is a knight. It's revealed that the 3 "hooded kids" are: One of the (who was on the verge of death) is an elf princesses and the other two are also nobles, her attendants (childhood friends, daughters of her wet nurses (retainers)). All of them are adults, not kids.

They had to fled because one elf prince started to eradicate his siblings. The elf king does not interfere in the matter, because he thinks, as a long living species he himself is young enough to make more children even if every one of them dies in the current turmoil.

Akion gives the 3 elves 1-1-1 cherry: They immediately faint. When they wake up they find out that all 3 of them got a powerful skill:
  • The princess gained access to a powerful wind spirit: [Sylvis of the Wind]].
With useful derived skills, not only for combat. For example she can listen to far away conversations.
  • One of the girls gains the ability of learning ANY magic she sees: [Magical Genius].
  • The 3rd girl's skill is [Inhabitant of shadows].

Akion got yet another nickname in the Royal Capital's Adventurer Guild, after being seen with the girls: Papa.

They go to the elven kingdom (thru the alcohol crazed) dwarf kingdom).

The following elven kingdom arc is one of the weaker points of the story in my opinion.

There is a semi-secret dungeon, and the (obligatory) world tree is connected to it. (Saplings of the world tree are dungeon drops.

In the end both the prince and the king dies, the princess denies to take the throne, and the nobles argue so long what to do, that the whole kingdom perishes with the world tree.

Later in the story it will make not much sense that he seals the [Enhanced Fertility] skill, because he will usually unseal it before the act....

He will have sex with are a buch from a small village in the demon forest, with amazonian-like woman-dominated society. They ask for his seed to take fresh blood to the village.
(So far he did not came back to those, no mention what did happen to them.)

In the same village he gets info about an item he looks for a quest from [Game], so he visits a muscle-brained nation, and in the end he ends up knocking up the queen.

In the elven kingdom arc the 3 elf girls straight tells him that all 3 of them aim to be his wife.
Later they will be his first, second and 3rd legal wifes, with the (former) elf princess being the first wife, and all 3 bears his child.

I don't remember if they had sex or not, but he got the daughter of the late Vampire Emperor.

The world (the author) is lax in regards of extramarital relationships...
Akion will later knock up multiple noble women, each of them the head of they noble houses w/o male heir.
Including Zera, who was after his brother's murderer, and the girl who he did save from the grim reaper.

His 4th legal wife will be a princess from yet another muscle-brained nation.

Then the girl from the Merchant's Guild will join the harem.

Lately he got together with a succubus from a non-hostile monster nation.

The best parts/arcs of the story in my opinion are the ones when we suddenly jump genres.
(Usually in dungeon-related situations.)
For example:
  • The lower levels of the same dungeon, were they defeated the [Wood Eater].
(Those are my absolute favorite parts.)
  • There is a time when Akion gets involved with a teleported entire Japanese school, which is entrapped in a tower defense like situation. All while he has to disguise himself as a slime (for the 1st time).
  • Lately Akion got summoned as a hero. :kek:

Akion fights a lot, all around the continent.
There is a talk about a 2nd continent, but the level of intercontinental travel is a bit like a few years prior 1492.

The manga covers the first ~49 chapter of the WN, the wall off text I wrote about two arcs ends around chapter ~90-100 out of 571 (still ongoing), while the summary info about the harem is from all the 571 chapters.

While the story is not 10/10 perfect, it is worth the read in my opinion.

While i do want to read it, my investigation skill and tool usage is compareable to that of a baby

It is really hard to find a manga that's an adaptation that not only ends on a high note, but doesn't feel like things were completely rushed (it still felt a little rushed, but I consider this amount more than tolerable). It just felt like a natural end to the story arc, and showed that there could easily be more to come. It didn't stay its welcome too long, either.
