Well, we've known she's a lecher and she doesn't care for Valiere at all. This chapter is just showing how they are with each other in private. Astarte is kind of an asshole to everyone throughout the story. Her poor treatment of others comes from her position (Duke), her military successes, and her personal ability (meaning she is a highly capable individual, likely superhuman). She kind of thinks she can do no wrong.


Astarte and Valiere are cousins, I believe. Anastasia is Valiere's older sister.

Yeah people seem to be overlooking how the Duke seems to treat everyone. The most respectful we've seen her be is to the MC, and she more or less uses her position of power to grope his ass at every chance she can.

This chapter just solidified HOW she made Duke. She's ambitious and not afraid of how many backs and faces she must step on to maintain and grow her power and position.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea from the endless moaning about "Where's the MC?", But I'm enjoying the world building and backstory we are getting. Untwist your knickers, the MC and the armored codpiece will be back soon enough, sooner.

Ya I mentioned this in the previous chapter, but Faust is one of the less interesting characters. Valiere, Zabine, and a few others we haven't met yet are much more interesting. Heck, next chapter they'll talk more about Faust's mom, who is also more interesting than him.

Faust lowkey likes it and want to do it too all the way to the steamy part, but because he values his fief and his mother he can't just go with it. He's restraining his own urge the most of the cast. If you read the "what ifs" on every end of the light novel's volumes, he's rawdawging them shawtys left and right 😭

remember that he's a low(er) rank noble in a feudal society where men are no more than sexual instruments, if he did violence to a duke and in-line for queen he would probably get in prison if not worse, and his assets seized.

While I do think you're being a bit rude about the whole thing, you may not be too far off the mark with Faust. He does have a modicum of self respect, but it is completely overshadowed by his respect for his mother and his duty to his people (also his religion but that comes later). He will pretty much do anything for those two things. So while he does think Astarte and the Queen are sexy, he doesn't hesitate when it comes to protecting the two motivating factors in his life.

If Astarte, Anastasia, the Queen, or any other noble of higher standing than him tried to actually force herself on him and bear children, he'd stop them. A little grab fanny to keep an incredibly powerful Duke on his good side and out of his bed chambers. Telling her off or worse, assaulting her, would probably get him killed, his lands seized, and the rumors about him and his mother canonized by the government. The easiest he'd get off would result in cutting off a huge line of support for his people should they ever be invaded (as a reminder, his lands sit on the border).

Edit: Additionally, Faust is a pervert who wants to grope them in public as well, but the above is also true.

Is Astarte in line for queen? She's a cousin of the 1st and 2nd Princess so I suppose it's possible. I don't think it's ever broached as a serious consideration in the story.
