Damn... Welp. I feel like boys wouldn't have a proper equivalent for this situation. I mean, I guess if a friend gets you an onahole, but a massager at least can have a legit use outside of masturbation, and it's an electric appliance, too. Unless guys decide to use massagers and similar devices to stimulate themselves, as well, there's no real comparing. I will admit porn has depicted such uses, though, so it's not like it's unheard of, but it still feels like it's not likely. Hell, I've never seen guys gifting each other masturbation aids, either. However, I could totally see even in the real-world women giving massagers as gifts, and they just happen to be used for lewd purposes.

This sequence of events just leaned heavier on the lewd due to the reversal than a real-world situation. Real women would have been subtler about it.

I did like the comparing it to boys excited over a new game, though. That situation I totally understood.

lol dang other than a bonus gift of money or her mom helping out with the christmas party i'm surprised they'd have the budget for so many ppl considering amamiya's feeding most of them herself

So…how does the fridge factor into this?
did seem random, maybe it's not something sexual at all and simply 'convenient' (if not using it to 'chill' some lube? tho i imagine most ppl might want like a mini fridge in their own room for convenience, or something like fridges being expensive but apartment places still providing one)

I've heard of some guys buying each other sex toys as a joke to make fun of each other (usually college age guys that are really immature). I actually have a tradition with one of my friends of looking for the weirdest cheap-ass games on Steam, frequently bizarre hentai games, and giving them as Christmas and birthday gifts.

The translator explains this on the last page

There's nothing immature about humour. Looking down on it is the real immaturity.

I wasn't saying its immature because of it being a joke, joking isn't immature. Buying someone sex toys as a way to make fun of them is immature since it's an adolescent way of seeing sexuality as something shameful.
Basically, it's not that gag gifts are immature, it's the way that I've seen those sex toy gag gifts used as ways for young men to challenge each other's masculinity that's immature. Like "Ha ha I've gotten you a dildo, indicating that you like stuff in your butt which means you're not a real man!!1!"
That's an immature way of looking at sexuality. There are plenty of gag gifts that don't involve childish views of gender, I was just referring to the only context I've personally seen people buy each other sex toys as gifts.
