I'm disappointed, I thought that gang leader was doing a solid for Iron Legs but then went and reversed it.
Same, I thought she was also just trying to help out Iron Legs girl Ryoko in the most tsundere, tough-love way possible, only for her to be written as a double-down villain who was simply looking to mess with and get her licks back at her after having her nose broken by Ryoko in a previous fight. Damn shame, but I guess it strengthens the adversity/antagonist aspect that the male and female leads have to fight and emerge victorious against, which I'd say they pretty much did, even if the guy got beaten up by them in the process as part of the gang leader's revenge against Ryoko and anyone dear to her (and thus another way to hurt her).
It's funny, I'd read this already a couple months or so ago, but came back to refresh my memory out of curiosity and realized that I'd forgotten that the guy gets beat up by gang leader and her companions, though it doesn't really take away from the sweetness of Ryoko and the guy's "reconciliation." I thought that their mutual understanding being depicted in a single panel left me wanting more, and wish they got more of a fleshed out ending where we could actually see them become a couple, even though Ryoko's smile and relief at the end pretty much confirms as much.
