Sowing discontent among one of the strongest supporter of Tolui so that they might revolt/betray Ogedei and break the unity of the Mongol. At this point in the story, the Mongol Empire/Horde is still a single entity under Ogedei. However, there were already fault lines between difference tribes, princes, and people of the horde that would want to tear it apart. She just want to make that an inevitability.I have 0 understanding of Fatima's plan. What did she achieve with this, starting the rumor then doing this? I dont get it man
Arghun? YesGuys, the nameless Oirat girl and Arghun are gonna be safe, right?
Yeap... be ready for some "By Allah, what have I done!" moment soon. This will greatly change our MC for sure. Fahtima and Togrene in some way are very similar, they still naively thinking that they and their people suffering justify any and all revenge dissing out against the Mongol and their allies. They still haven't caught up to the potential consequences to bystanders that they are gonna cause for their vengeance. Can't wait to see how Fatima will take this. She'll likely take the W, but also bear direct witness to the human cost. Things are about to get really really murky. We're in for some brutal and fascinating character development for Fatima for sure
Yeah! Unless, perhaps, we never get that moment? I'm starting to think she'll process the grief by rationalizing it toward her goals. Got a taste of this in the Anime last week, when she walks out of the tent all ominous after accepting "To those in Kaifeng, I'm just another Mongol..." Chilling scene. I think as Fatima becomes more of a "witch", she'll become more and more morally compromised, not unlike Boraqchin herself, our first witch. Would be really bold to write her this way, honestly I'm all for it. Complex MCs = compelling storiesYeap... be ready for some "By Allah, what have I done!" moment soon. Bomb Squad intern on her first day in the field
Boraqchin thinks a show of force will be enough to silence dissenters, but as we're learning through Ogedai, the new empire requires a softer touch to hold together. Whatever horrible fate is coming will only further Fatima's real goal of setting the brothers' factions against each other. Mark my words, Boracqchin's choice here will probably contribute to her downfall later down the line.

Yeah, pretty much. Accusing Fatima would show further division in Ogedai's faction, and would be tantamount to blaming Toregene, which would break her promise to Ogedai not to involve T. Further, Boraqchin very carefully set up the narrative that Tolui's death was divinely sanctioned via ritual. By accusing Fatima, she "breaks the spell" and people might suspect her own involvement. Boraqchin oversaw the ceremony after all, and it'd be suspicious/convinient if she blamed the slave of another wife who wasn't there. It is because Fátima could open her mouth at any time and say that Boraqchin killed Tolui? Is that the reason why she didn't accused Fátima? Accusing her and holding an investigation would soon reveal that she worked for Sorgahtani.
A few thousand deaths and suffer atrocities right in front of your face. With you in the front row, splash zone seat, and knowing that you are the one who caused all of that. And some of the victims also know you should suffered the same cause you goaded them to do it. It's significantly difference magnitude from knowing about million of deaths by the stroke of a pen or a button press in a far off place. The type of people who can do that IRL, would be up there with the worst type of insane people.A few thousand deaths and unwanted marriages?
I would gladly cause even more suffering, if this would prevent millions of deaths.
Even if Fatima opens her mouth and said it, it could just be treated as libel and false accusation. Especially, now that Fatima is under Toregene who is basically treated as a liar by everyone. It's not entirely harmless, but it's manageable. From the perspective of Boragchin who is a ruler, letting it slides here and punish her by a cruel twist like this is much less annoying than facing it out right. This is just like that case of Illcidai's affair we are witnessing in parallel right now.It is because Fátima could open her mouth at any time and say that Boraqchin killed Tolui? As for her course of actions to deal with the rumors from the Oirat. Yes, that's pretty much it. If you have to choose between fighting, causing a lot of bloodshed and damage to the country, but strengthen your rule vs not doing anything, enrich the whole nation, but weaken your hold politically then 9/10 politicians would choose the former. Only problem is, repeating that same choice over and over again, compounding with short rules and chaoic inheritanceship was the cause for majority of steppe nomads and conquering empires collapse.I'm trying to understand Boraqchin's actions, was it just a "fuckit!"?
Her thinking is that as long as she and Ögedei Faction is there's no problem with infighting? As Khatun is her duty to fight and win?
Fátima wants a Civil War to weaken the Mongol, while Boraqchin wants to use a Civil War to strengthen the Mongol by getting rid of competing factions?
Arghun? Yes
His girl, however, will probably one of the victims of the mass rape of 4000 Oirat girls ordered by Ogedei. I think she will survive, but will get terribly traumatized.
