@Narf i agree, i actually came straight here after i saw simp to voice concerns
Zeroscans does it too
i cross referenced with other chapters of "Hero I Quit etc etc etc" and a pink haired girl was called female simp only in zero scans' translation where as other groups used a generic insult
as a remark for how clingy she is
its clear they wanna be hip and cool with the internet lingo and their respective base loves it, b/c they all looked at me funny for pointing out
but ye... it bugs me... though it is what it is ig... zero scans wont stop their practice and im sure the group working on this wont either
as for the scene im assuming they are talking about a Tsukki's fanclub, since its a fairly common gag in these japanese romcoms
personally don't agree with the ghetto school remark
you've acknowledged its an internet insult
and from what i know from experience, and maybe times have changed, is that that type of internet lingo normally doesn't get picked up

i'd just prefer if simp was left as a T/N note if you really had to put it in there for comedic effect
personally personally perrrrrsonnnalllllyyyyyyyyy don't find it amusing at all to see in my manga readings

Yeah I know a few groups that I have actually blocklisted because they'd clutter their "translations" with memes, slang, alt-right terminology and other bait to "trigger" people. However these dudes so far don't have such a track record and I see no harm in making suggestions.

Of course I can't speak for others, but when I did translations for communities I always enjoyed discussing my translation and improving on them. Sometimes it's just a misplaced comma or an unintentionally incorrect spelling, sometimes you learn new words or that you had your grammar totally wrong, sometimes it was just a difference in style of wording.
I liked these discussions, because they often made my translations better and thus made my use of the language better. Some people I knew took it as a personal insult when somebody posted a list of translation errors or debatable wordings below one of their contributions, but the majority I know (and the overwhelming majority of those who could be considered good at their job) liked those and were thankful for them.
And it's not like anybody is trashtalking the translation. Aside from that one word nobody has so far critisized anything, and that one point is more a question of style than really anything huge. Ain't nobody gonna raise a stink if they decide to keep using the term, but there is no harm in voicing that some people like you and me are a bit unhappy with that choice, right?

@Narf sounds like a really nice and healthy work environment
this is true, no harm in voicing our concerns
when i think about it now, maybe i worded things harshly in my semi long winded response to finding female simp in their translations
im not too familiar with alt-right terminology and its usage by other groups, perhaps im just really fortunate
but i do remember a group existing that would post their zionist nonsense at the end of each chapter

as a recently graduated high schooler, I can confirm that simp gets thrown around almost constantly at school

I understand why "simp" was used for this translation, but knowing what it originally used to refer to can be rather distracting.
So the meaning based on its usage has gone like this

Donating in streams where the female streamer will reward donations with an action, usually of a sexual kind, on camera

Donating unhealthy amounts of money to a female streamer in hopes of gaining their special/exclusive favor/attention/affection

A man simply expressing affection to a woman regardless of them being actually in a mutual relationship e.g. boyfriend and girlfriend

And with this translation, a boy secretly liking a girl and there is zero interaction between them

@duck_ai Flavour of the Month. Something that pops up, is overly popular for a while and then goes away as goes away as fast as it appeared.

"Simp"
iu

I suppose it at least has the possibility of being used correctly here, unlike when most people use it.
