Akira can more or less understand why the old man still think of him as a threat so he's not angry about the whole attempt murder.
But his methods are rather....crude....it's so unlike him to do something like this, which even Karen agreed.
So he and Karen went and just ask the old man about it.
(Karen was still bitter her 'temptation' option didn't work either...oh if only she know)
tl;dr is that goblins are highly adaptive race. If they live in a desert they'll get stronger resistance to heat, in the snowy mountain they'll be resistant to cold, etc.
within a single month they can comfortably live in the new environment
and then, after 99% of goblins worldwide got massacred, the last goblin evolved and gained a new skill
"Last One", with 3 effects
1. Immortality, as in this last goblin will not die no matter what
2. I can use its own life force to instantly spawn goblins
3. IT CAN USE ANY SKILL A GOBLIN EVER HAD
that goblin became the ancestor of all the current goblins basically
and that is why the Count went to such roundabout methods, because if he try a more common method (like telling Karen to gather people and subjugate him) he's worried that Akira might suddenly evolve in some more terrifying way.
Some more talking and the Count ask what Akira plan to do about this
Akira's suggested solution is to simply raise his worth to be higher than his threat.
i.e. if the benefits he brings outweigh the potential damage if he turns on them, he think the country will no longer come after him
