@Narha Lord of the Rings does not have the first elves, there have been Dark Elves, pretty Goblins, Pixies, and Fae in general in folklore long before Tolkien, they vary quite a bit but are generally described like Tolkien's elves, and while some of them are completely spiritual, not needing to eat at all, others will latch onto a story and live it out faithfully as if it were their real life. So it could be quite believable either way, they either lived long enough that all aspects of living stopped interesting them, or they came across a story of three sisters starving themselves, and only one of them had enough common sense to not follow it through all the way during role play.

Tolkien was inspired by Scandinavian mythology, which had elves, trolls, dwarves, etc. Elves were essentially ageless pseudo-deities. I do think he was the first to give them their trademark leaf-shaped ears, though could be wrong.

Goblins have been around awhile, but were popularized by The Princess and the Goblin; which again gave them their traits (though these also had beards as well). Authored by George MacDonald.

Vampires were Slavic, and pretty much disgusting rotting corpses. Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Polidori’s Vampyre gave them a veneer of civility through them being nobility.

Basically mythology is the base, and popular stories change contemporary views on how they look and behave.

Small question, considering their(goblins') life spans, how the heck do they have so many skilled craftsmen in that village?

@Chizan That seems like a small question, but honestly the majority of the setting revolves around that having already been explained pretty thoroughly as a central focus of the story. You pretty much might as well start over from chapter 1 if you're not sure about that.

It's the skills, and how goblins pass them on before death. MC has streamlined that process, and multiple generations of goblins have been born and died already since then because their life spawn is normally so short. Not long ago he specifically set up groups of them to pass their skills down in for specific categories of skills, like cooking or carpentry. When he still gets some himself occasionally, if he gets any duplicates he can combine them into an improved version and give it to another goblin without having to die first because of some other skill he's gotten. So, the goblins are improving all of their various trades in leaps and bounds every generation or so now.

The fact that y'all heads just automatically jump to the derogatory term is upsetting, and what even more upsetting is some of y'all laugh at it. It's the same as when I saw American laugh at my friend Phuc just because his name sounds like "F*ck". It's honestly childish and kinda lame to nameshame.

Wow, I don’t know how to feel about forcing people to live. Should have at least let the girls discuss it amongst themselves first.
