Yes, this manga is a adaptation of a novel from the original author.

I personally don't have patience to read novels myself, but I've read some plot points elsewhere and I think the novel is still being released somewhere.

Meh, this has been mediocre for a while at this point after he killed the sister the last time and just how extremely psychotic the sister was at thee time as well. Just ending on a tease that the sister is basically an evil phantom now is barely worth raising an eyebrow even for a light novel advertisement.

This axe certainly feels justified.
