This kind of thing isn't that good for physical training. It's a single event, and physical training is something you need to keep doing. But knowing what it is you need to aim for and what to expect is important.

10% fighting is actually extremely much. That's fighting an two and a half hours fighting every single day.

Yuuji's right about knights in our world. You don't wear your armour travelling to battle. You wear it while fighting. On the way there you have tons of logistical support who carry a bunch of stuff for you. That world, on the other hand, is probably different.

A fortified camp at a rock wall would probably not have the wooden palisade on that side. Rather, it'd go to the mountain and incorporate that into the defence.

10 hours without eating, and marching that entire time, is quite a lot. Though it depends on what you're used to.

Well for once they at least didn't give the "top scorer" special treatment, that's cool.
Oh, they're getting special treatment, alright.

For a second I thought that the ones with crappy stuff would have to steal/grab the good stuff from other students who will defend theirs, battle royale style.
That sounds like some edgelord variant of Naruto.

I guess what Garde Sensei said makes sense since the logistics for medival era is probably for food and spare armor/weapons.

Even with logistics, soldiers/knights still need to be effective when donning armor and fight, so weight training is right thinking.

There is no point if a knight is fat like a pig and tired from 5 minutes of walking much less swinging a weapon.

But it IS special treatment. It's just not positive special treatment. :p

Also, they're way off on the knights' armor. It really isn't that heavy, in actuality (D&D and similar fiction drastically over-exaggerates weights; always has), and furthermore is strapped and supported by how it's put together in pieces so that you barely feel the weight on you at all, when properly done. They also wouldn't be moving in full plate on foot by themselves; halfplate gearing would be more appropriate for such situations, because speed is prioritized, instead, with the remainder coming up with a logistics team.

Yuuji definitely was only factoring his active time, not his time asleep, so it'd be more accurate to say 1.6 hours. He's also a scout type, so he's usually actively looking for things or tracking them; definitely not a situation one would normally encounter.

Always liked good ol' knights. But, yeah, Full Plate isn't as heavy as Japanese media makes it seem. Also, doesn't take into account the strength of most knights.

Thanks for the TL

Since there was no mention of sleeping/cooking/resting I would assume the 10% is out of the stuff he spends energy on while adventuring, 10% is still a lot but Yuuji is also very efficient with his adventuring and it would most likely be higher if only counting the island.

I think the trainer is lying about the knights to get his students to take on a heavier load to train them, but if they do have the armor on while going somewhere it might be because fighting monsters and going to war is different, and there is no stopping once you set out to kill a monster.

The palisade is really weird it, there might be a cave there or its to stop rocks from falling into the camp.
