5 Tons of firewood? Darn, he'll need to get either a everburning torch or some coal to help this lot.

I'm surprised no-one has commented on what the town is going to look like after the cold goes away. However, life over trees is completely understandable.

The amount of pages. The amount of read. This is the level of satisfaction I like getting when reading a chapter! I thought the chapter would end about 5 times when reading! Thank you very much for the translation and chapter, team!

Also, hes going to need to solve the problems of the cold!

it is a miracle that those folk are still alive. They are too stupid to survive on their own

1. You'd know the second you try to start a fire in an unequipped for it building that it's an awful idea. "Not being able to breathe = bad" isn't a lesson you need a long time to learn.

2. If you start a fire in an unequipped for it building without opening a window, you will be overcome with smoke in a matter of minutes to the point of not being able to breathe at which point being cold as a concern is a distant second after choking to death. Carbon monoxide accumulates relatively quickly as well, even if they somehow managed to burn wood without smoke, they would need to keep the window open all the time to not get horrible headaches or fall unconscious and eventually die as CO accumulates in the blood and you can't get rid of the danger by simply airing out the place once every hour. Essentially you would need to abandon the idea of heating the air and settle for infra-red heat from the fire as peasants in huts without smokestacks did.

3. Any firewood causes smoke, any firewood produces carbon monoxide as it burns. Those idiots would have the same exact problems trying to burn dry wood just to a lesser extent: they would hack out a lung in 10 minutes instead of in 1. Damp firewood is only really an issue because it's hard to get it burning and it gives less heat because a lot of energy is expended on evaporating the moisture inside it, that's about it. Those issues can be solved by chopping it into extra small pieces, approaching kindling in size, and simply burning more of it, if you have nothing else to burn and you must have a fire.

Your faulty logic stems from the same ignorance on the topic as the author's, it seems.

@SeryjVolk The smoke was clearly leaking out, due to poor insulation. The CO build-up would probably be very slow, just manifesting as sleepiness. Bonus points: if South America suddenly became Siberia, people would likely not be clever about heating and smoke safety. 10 days is not a lot of time to realize the issues, and this was the first ever case of CO-poisoning so far. Of course they don't know the danger, because it just became apparent.

@cor3zone The guard at the gate said there had already been deaths - we don't know if they were from cold or CO poisoning.

@CelticMutt Precisely, "we don't know". They had never heard of it, so they couldn't know about it. They probably just attributed it to cold, for lack of a better explanation. Making this the first confirmed case.

Every home should have a kitchen with some form of stove, said stove should be the ONLY place in the houses they can safely burn wood if they do not have a fireplace, and already have some form of ventilation.

Are they burning fires on a stone slab in the middle of the living rooms, and not making adjustments to their lifestyles to conserve costs?

lol, i like this guy. Casually doing godlike things 😂 Honestly though, he should solve the root of the problem instead of preparing 5 tons of firewood every day. Thats just not sustainable.

When you're an OP MC and need firewood to get some lunch, so you just cut down a couple hundred trees and use magic to dry it in 3 seconds instead of 1 year.

@SeryjVolk :
1. Apparently that's not the case in this series seeing as after 10 days it's not a ghost town. Also again they don't know any better. It's like questioning how someone who came from the mountain is confused drinking sea water is not a good way to stay hydrated.

2. The whole town is covered in snow, I'm pretty sure you can freeze to death within minutes in that sort of weather as well.
Also the place isn't as airtight as it seem, as obviously seen in the chapter where the MC can see smoke leaking out the windows.

Why yes I'm not an expert in wood cutting/kindling or anything like that, I just try to give explanation as given in the chapter, but apparently you assume everyone must know these info despite most urban locations no longer use kindle for fire is...eh.

Then again it's a world with magic, have you consider that maaaaybe they just don't work exactly as ours?

the kitchen usually just have small ventilation, and for warming the place, its not suitable, moreover when they burning the woods 24 hours to get warm... small ventilation on the kitchen can't handle it, and no way the families just live in the kitchen all days, so they create some fireplace on living room and just go full 'bonfire'.... LOL

and this happen just recently, on a place that supposedly a warmer and never has "severe winter" weather on it, so they didn't even thinking create chimney on their house since it has no use on their original lifestyle. (just thinking this place nearby equator, people on there never create chimney on their house, since they never experienced winter on there)...
since they didn't even know that smokes on closed room is dangerous, they probably didn't even know chimney exist either....
