In the webnovel he's much more haughty in that scene, and it's expositioned in the dialogue that the Esfort Kingdom is the one wronged and that it's basically irrelevant that Corgino was the one who instigated it. So then the king goes on to explain that because the Esfort Kingdom were wronged, it means that the Republic of Ilstin are the ones who needs to pay to settle the matter, and that the negotiation is merely to decide how much they need to pay.

I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler, because this is about what was changed in a scene that already happened in this manga chapter.

(Btw about the "for various reasons" when Lisabeth mentions in this chapter about how she was caught, in the webnovel she explained it better in that scene and says it's because she got drunk in a bar while drinking with strangers and accidentally let her human disguise-magic go when passing out and then woke up with the magic-sealing cuffs on her while inside a cage when she had sobered up.)
Thank you for this!

It is sad to see the Manga adaption doing this event dirty. As what you described is much more adequate and satisfactory to the readers after repeated violations aginst foreign nobles!

I hope we still get to see the republic do something to the offending party.

I'd forgotten all about Corgino until I read the tl note page at the end despite reading both chapters together.
I mean, we got introduced to another princess! That's way more important than Mr. Entertainment chuckling to himself.

Duke Eric also had a more "evil and scheming"-kind of demeanor in the webnovel's dialogue in that scene, with the implication that he'd skin the republic dry in the negotations because of the attempt to enslave Silk. I also personally prefer the way it was handled in the webnovel.
But now we finally move onto the Demon arc! :win:
