The manga adaptation started at book 5 out of 9 in the web novels.

As a matter of fact, we are actually in the middle part of book 5. The Jet Black Sword party arc hasn't started (the party Sei is "banished from" on chapter 1 page 1 of this manga). There's also developments with Scarlet to consider, and remember Sei is here to kill all the bosses for bronze rank promotion.

I think Lillie was a nice addition, she really reminds us how limited the carrier job is in this setting.
These manga about crappy fantasy jobs/classes MC always end up OP as fck either because everybody in that world is mentally impaired and were using the job specs wrong, or absolute broken from bullshit writing.
MC here is OP in a fun way at least.

I understand the authors thoughts regarding Lillie but those thoughts stem from the fact that the manga skipped the 5 books that set up the understanding that Carriers are weaker than every other class in almost all ways and fails to showcase the effort Sei put in to overcome those aspects. Instead we see him fully realized without understanding what it took for him to get there. Even then, in the books, at the point that he is at, he still has to measure every fight as potentially dangerous knowing the risks of fighting other classes. There are even times when he acknowledges that appraising certain people could be dangerous and waits for opportune times to do so. Here, he just kinda unga-bungas whatever is in front of him so we get that illusion of Carrier = Busted.

Okay, so after rereading it, she was planning to have sex with him as a distraction. But she definitely wasn’t expecting for him to nut inside her.
