Don't they teach hand to hand combat before practicing swordsmanship? But probably the kid isn't the wisest...

Think it's a common trope mc trying to not stand out but ultimately doing everything to stand out among isekai. Didn't came across a story where attention bites mc in the ass or actually not standing out, but the latter would probably make things boring for the reader...
