The Lord has a point mc did get extremely lucky. He lived for starters while everyone else died or fled. Was given a fortune and a huge territory for free and was able to snag an S rank adventurer. While the Lord was given rule over a land that had a glaring problem he foresaw if they didn't change but unlike the MCs civilians who were moving from horrible conditions the Lord's people were content and unwilling to change. It would be very arrogant of the MC to talk down on him when he really was just lucky with his fresh start.
