I know everyone wants the nobles and the king to be punished, but what about the commoners?
They didn't seem to be actively calling for Rosemarie's execution, but they were definitely spreading the false rumors of her villainy.
It didn't seem like they had any regrets about calling her a villainess even after the romance between King Gray and Queen Tia became apparent for the sham that it was.

That's why: denouncing the 'king' and the 'queen' in public, and shaming them with Rosemary's name involved.

I mean, there are worse things then death. I say let him experience all number of things before he dies. Like even just letting him know that the Queen was already escaping on her own, to show off her true colors. Since she knew this was coming with enough time to prepare, and didn't tell him, that should say everything. Not to mention the whole thing about it just being a "game" to her. Let him break.
