So you don't rewrite just sentences but even skills now huh... fucking hell how can anyone be so idiotic... Spawning to Oviposit alone is reason for you to get bitch slapped till you're spitting teeth... all those intelligent well thought self explaining skill names were ruined...

To ruin a good series out of arrogance and conceit... can only be amended by redoing it properly and apologizing...

What are you on about?

The previous skill names weren't accurately reflecting the author's intentions, so we simply corrected them to that end.

Quite a number of the previous skill names were mistranslations by our own TL (by his own admission) as japanese was still quite new to him at the time when we picked this up. As he learned more about the language, he learned more about how the skills were supposed to be translated. He compares the web novel and the manga to ensure he's getting the right message through.

Don't know where the "conceit and arrogance" is in any of this. If you have such a beef with all the research he went through for this, try tranlating all these skill names yourself (not with an MTL, but actually translating it).

Where the conceit and arrogance is? It's in the believe that he is a better author than this series author himself!
Otherwise how will you explain that from chapter 25 on the sentences are lengthened and altered to a level where it's impossible to call it anything other than rewrite...

It's a translators duty, to stay true to the authors intentions not to change and alter it as you please...
And please most the skills lost their meaning "Swill Blood" is "Blood Sucking"...

Here the characteristic skills as example in japanese and english:
特性スキル:
【軟体:Lv一】
【粘性の体液:Lv—】
【吸水:Lv3】
【MP自動回復:Lv5】
Soft body: Lv-
Viscous Body Fluid: Lv-
Water Absorbtion:Lv3
Automatic MP recovery:Lv5

These are the correct translated names of the skills check the rewritten names and tell me which is correct, even with mtl you wouldn't be far of this and what did he change them to?

2 of his translated characteristic are close to the orignal but 2 wrong and completely altered... and you want to tell me he improved?
The entire chapters wording is altered sentences lengthened to a point their content is lost and you want to tell me he checked the webnovel to make these changes?
Very hard to believe when I see what he has been doing... outragous changes odd terms that don't even fit, he didn't improve his skill he simply got arrogant and conceited, and started to think it's fine to do his own thing.
Simply translate it like in the manga raws that's the only thing that a manga translator should be doing no lengthening no makin "a--ah" to "awww" no bringing slanglish into this or twisting and turning sentences, simply translate it as is...
The raws are clear written and concise, simple but nice, clear.
They have no need for changes, they don't demand even checking the webnovel because they are that clear.

But this rewrite feels like it's dragged through the mud by some hipster thinking he is the next great author and is doing this series a favor with this shit...
And not to forget rewriting anothers work is illegal, while fan translating is moving in a gray zone, rewriting is simply illegal but in the first place is it morally questionable because a fan shouldn't rewrite the authors work in the first place...

Dude, if you really like this series and care for it, make sure it receives the respect it deserves and fix it... and this is not about beef with you guys it's about ensuring this series receives the correct treatment and doesn't get rewritten.
From chapter 25 on every chapter that was rewritten please fix them.
I'm currently struggling on continuing in this very chapter 26 because every of these rewritten sentences feels like a punch in the gut, but if this rewrite really continued from 25 to 35 then you basically harmed this series to point being sued wouldn't come as a surprise... and who wants that shit...

First off, it isn't our problem if you don't know an english word. Here's the definition of swill in case you don't know.
Swill:
Meaning (verb): drink (something) greedily or in large quantities.
As the skill gets used in ways outside of just "sucking", calling it "blood sucking" doesn't fit. Context matters here. That's something you are clearly ignoring.

As for some of the others, later in the story, a number of skills pop up with names that translate to the same thing in english (including that "water absorbtion" skill you mention). Do we just call them the same thing and confuse the readers? That seems to be what you are suggesting.

There's another "water absorbtion" skill in the future of this story that is the magical water absorbtion version versus this one that is more like the natural sponge absorbing kind. As the natural based "water absorbtion" never gets used again for the remainder of the story, it was the better candidate for alteration to make the similar skill names less likely to get mixed up.

The "spawning" skill you also complained about is another one. Later in the story is another monster that can actually spawn critters directly and whose skill name and description better reflects the word "spawning".

For the "automatic MP recovery", Passive fits better as it is a background skill that is always active. There's a HP skill that will come down the road that muddies the water on this (which is part of what led us to do this name change) where it automatically recovers health, but only when the user is conscious, as opposed to the one the MC has that regenerates regardless of consciousness. The MP side was mainly changed to keep consistent with the HP side that was forced to change.

For the MC's informal accent, that comes from the webnovel. Since we translate both, we chose the web novel's approach as that is literally from the series author themselves.

As for the legality bit, as we don't have the raw skill names showing on the pages we post, the only way you even noticed something to complain about is by checking the raws. Unless you are a subscriber to the actual raw-provider site, then you are checking it on an illegal raw site and thus committed piracy. So using that high-horse legal talk isn't a valid strategy when potentially committing crime yourself. We buy the raws legitimately to support the authors of this series.

Plus, for the web novel, we got explicit permission from the author before translating their work. Necoco literally gave us approval to translate their work for english viewers. So your threat of a lawsuit isn't valid here. Obviously that doesn't include the manga and if the official english publisher ever tells us to stop, we'll immediately stop the manga translations, no questions asked.

On a final point, we make the effort of translating and very clearly posting the names of the authors of this manga on EVERY CHAPTER to ensure everyone knows who the authors of this series are. You can see that for yourself. We don't claim any rights to this series and never have.

When I read some of the webnovel raw, I certainly don't remember reading the mc talk like this... and even less where the sentences were so twisted up enlongated and unclear... that's your stuff not the authors and I know what swill means but it doesn't fit and isn't translating directly the skills name, acceptable would be "Blood Sucking, Vampirism or even Vampire with a gain of salt" as these could be directly translated from it there may be more, but "Blood Swill" sounds just wrong, same with the other liberal translation choices and saying in the future in the future while stating that's the reason you changed the skill names doesn't help either, also the webnovel translation of this series is quite badly rated by the novel readers which was why I read it rather in raw while not for too much because I preferred the manga, but it felt more pleasant.

Also basically admitting you didn't translate the sentences from the manga but choose the webnovel doesn't help either because honestly the webnovel is in this one rare case not as well liked as the manga, so why not stay true to the manga and translate it as is written as such? Which makes me also question did choose the translation approach of the webnovel or did you read it raw and then choose the write it like that? Because if it was simply translated like this by some webnovel translator that rewrote it, then you are basically copying their error...

And it is not illegal to read the raws, whether the source is illegal or legal as long you don't upload them yourself you don't make yourself guilty, and knowing the laws has nothing to with sitting on a high horse, rewriting is simply illegal no matter how you want to twist and turn it.

And even if you the approval of the author to translate the series doesn't that mean you have the approval to rewrite it.
I never meet a author that would approve having his work rewritten most are pissed and depressed enough about publishers damaging their works with their "suggestions" that if they often don't accept stands in their way of getting their work published...
Well many japanese, korean and chinese authors aren't too skilled in their english and it often doesn't get noticed by them explaining many trash quality official translations like on webnovel.com etc.

And the authors name is written in any chapter anyway so even without translating it directly it's still there, but it's means almost nothing when the content is only in context still his rather than clearly reflecting their intended writing style, wording, sentence structure and story...

And if the kanji of those skills that appear in the future are the same as the ones appearing here then it's the same skill.

Dude, please just ensure it's translated like it's written in raw version of the manga and keep true to the authors intentions, so no rewrite, liberal changes or slanglish because informal japanese is cerainly not informal slanglish... or country accent dunno how it's called in america? Hill billy slang? Hm... well it's the lesser problem with the sentences being elongated and altered though..

I'll state it again if you like this series please just redo the chapters that were rewritten.
From chapter 25 on dunno how many are rewritten after that or all but please redo them and translate them like intended...

It's not like i'm the only one that noticed it, the only reason there aren't far more comments like mine is because mangadex took too long in booting the comment section back up... but still in chapter 25 you will find another guy that noticed the drastic change and most likely on leecher sites even more...

Your team did such a great job before 25 really don't get why you started to rewrite it, this is not a medium to practice creative writing...

It is clear from your responses that english definitely isn't your first language as you hardly understood anything I wrote.

First off,
acceptable would be "Blood Sucking, Vampirism or even Vampire with a gain of salt" as these could be directly translated from it there may be more
By showing there are more ways to translate this than just "blood sucking", you literally proved our point and nullified everything you have been talking about for "rewriting" as you put it. You literally just proved that there are numerous ways a skill can be translated. That's been my point all along.

Also, this comment is completely incorrect:
And it is not illegal to read the raws, whether the source is illegal or legal as long you don't upload them yourself you don't make yourself guilty, and knowing the laws has nothing to with sitting on a high horse, rewriting is simply illegal no matter how you want to twist and turn it.
Just like watching a pirated movie is piracy, so is reading a pirated raw manga. It doesn't matter if it is downloaded or not. It is still a clear-cut crime "no matter how you want to twist and turn it," as you put it. Media piracy isn't just about distribution, but viewership as well. So your plagiarism push is meaningless when you are committing piracy to make such exaggerated claims.

And if the kanji of those skills that appear in the future are the same as the ones appearing here then it's the same skill.
No, it is not the same kanji. I'm talking about the equivalent of how "akuma" and "oni" both translate into "demon" in english. Same kind of situation occurs quite frequently in this story. I literally described the scenarios of the example terms you gave.

Which makes me also question did choose the translation approach of the webnovel or did you read it raw and then choose the write it like that? Because if it was simply translated like this by some webnovel translator that rewrote it, then you are basically copying their error...
I thought the part of stating that we got permission to translate the author's web novel was easy to understand. Our TL translates both the web novel and the manga. That's the whole reason for us aligning the skill terms to each other in first place. There would be no point otherwise.

Your comments basically just boils down to you don't like our translation cause it doesn't suit your preferences. That's fine if you don't like it. "To each their own" as the saying goes. Now trying to support your argument via claiming legality issues is just false though and that's where I have a problem with your comment.
