@insignificant They did specify that they were mercenaries, rather than adventurers, which is pretty telling; that said, when it comes to people willing to stand between you and the monsters of the world (even if only for coin), I don't imagine many people would be too picky about their personality, so it's not surprising that scum like that shows up so regularly in isekai series (aside from just being the typical "let's provide easy fodder to show how awesome our MC is").

It doesn’t look like beginner gear to me. “Master” even said that it had a whole lot of resistances imbued in it. I saw Wyvern boots, mithril earring, etc. those aren’t typical beginner items. Also, the size auto adjusts to the person, so great for people to grow up with, like her. Like others have said, the economy does seem slightly bloated, but it does seem to be pretty special armor.
