The male lead and female leads families are both Barons, not Viscounts. They were just made nobles. The ranks when translated from japanese is as follows for most of these settings styled after Western nobility:
Baron (rules a Barony, typically meant the lord of an individual castle or fort who had some knights under him)

V
Viscount (rules a Viscounty, originally the appointed assistant to the Count, now it's its own noble rank)

V
Count (rules a County, the standard middling noble, called an Earl in Scandanavia and Britain)

V
Marquis/Margrave (rules a Marquisate/March, originally a title given to border land (March) lords, often with increased military and autonomy, in order to react quickly to threats from the border)

V
Duke (rules a Duchy, often a title only given to side branches of the royal family, made into new cadet houses to reduce the number of potential heirs to the throne)
