this might be a bait and switch, since if there's indeed some random plot to make the mc failed the test, then it seems this is the part where the manga plot really differ with the WN, the manga already adapt the WN with some cut

since in the WN there's no problem with the test and he got perfect score, tough he has to fight the big guy he meet in the slave auction place for the practical test
tough perhaps the reason why he considered failed here, perhaps because whatever he do, the group will be admitted into the S class, since the elf mom also part of the school staff and she already vouched him as brilliant student to the headmaster
since the elf mom is there, so the elf girl they saved before also enroll to the school too
Glad I wasn't the only one who read the WN and was like... WTF?? That didn't happen. :slap: <Bonks Mangaka>

Yeah - yet another school arc (and being an overpowered student who stands out too much), HERE WE GO!
Was pretty much waiting for Ellie to become human-form again and consequently, I was also expecting her to become part of the marriage.

But as always, it is quite jarring to see that the mangaka probably has troubles drawing smaller toddlers/children. Like you'll see that Mars' younger sister looks like she was drawn as normal size child of same age as Mars and Clarice, then just used scale-transform to make her look relatively smaller, making her look like a fairy instead; they usually draw little children almost like SD characters (i.e. slightly bigger heads, with short and cute hands, arms and legs), but the way the mangaka drew her is quite off.
and even after 3 years, the little sister seem like she did not even grow and inch taller
Glad to see someone thinks this mangaka can't draw children. That little sister is unnerving to look at.

I have 2 possible guesses for the "Mars Bryant failed" line.
1.) Someone who knows him and is among the teachers or examiners just plays a trick on him to tease him but will then simply say something like "Of course, that was a joke. I just wanted to see your surprised / shocked face.".

2.) Mars does so well in the test that the examiners suspect him of cheating and he would have to prove that he did not cheat in some way to have his results verified as genuine.
(Remember that there most likely is no rule that it must be proven that he had cheated and as such it can be demanded that he disproves that claim.)

At this time skip rate we may be lucky enough to get past the school arc in a single chapter. Hell, the girls might even be old enough to match the bodies they've been drawn with since they were 8 years old.
