She has the ability to choose how something tastes, so she can make the nastiest thing taste good and the best looking thing to taste like garbage.

There are other applications to her cooking skill but this is the only thing that applies to this situation.

Imagine a pile of dog shit, then a kid just up and vomits on it after eating all their halloween candy, and for good measure a jeweler slips on some of the sick and drops a container of arsenic on it, shattering the glass.

now if you eat it, it tastes like the best steak cooked to perfection, but presentation is still horrific.

could you tell me you this wouldn't be a punishment? I mean hell, lets say it tastes like something you like, now not only is the thing you like an inferior version of what you just ate, you have to remember the presentation.

Is this before or after Shion got the cooking skill? If it's before then the food will qualify for the mysterious food x that will look as bad as it tastes, rate -1000 on a scale of 1 to 10, and be composed of dark matter and substances so poisonous and toxic that it's a miracle the 'food' hasn't eaten through the tableware, table, floor, bedrock, and through the earth until it reaches the center of the planet dissolving everything in it's path. If it's after then the taste will be insanely good while the appearance is so insanely bad that something a no talent hack just threw together at random would seem great. Although Dino is in great trouble for the pictures, if he remembers to remind Shion and Shuna how the pics promoted a discussion on how they looked the most ideal for being next to Rimuru there's a chance the beating will soften up a tad or the two getting distracted by arguing with each other who's better for standing next to Rimuru in which case a prompt escape is called for to avoid becoming collateral damage.

@mathiason considering how ramiris and dino already become staff of tempest and veldora already out then shion already have "cook" skill but the problem not that, no matter how tasty her cooking is, that only taste the original substance and look still on eldrict abomination

@larcek Shion still has the cook skill right now so unless the chapters are taking place at vastly different times, it isn't after the main story.
