@Glomoro They COULD have been tricky... if Rimiru was willing to do things conventionally like any other reincarnated person. Rimiru has no more fucks to give after what they did.

@musicfreak12 Yup... they basically destroyed the soul of the Japanese Berserker and left behind the body... with the skills that he had. If he was able to survive this(which, thankfully he didn't), he could have just killed people and continued to grow stronger with that kind of body and skills kept with it.

@Raydnt: The proper explanation is that it allows the user to reap the soul of someone begging for their lives actually (and a more literal translation is "heartless one")

Gdi i thought the real killing would start next chapter or something, this meggido was kinda shitty after reading the wn/ln tbh.

At least we're getting best boy in 1 or 2 months (Probably?).

@Yanagi @Rover

As Rover noted, Merciless is having a lack of mercy (Related: pity, empathy, sympathy, forgiveness, etc) for someone. Ruthlessness is a fairly comparable word, meaning to have a lack of pity (and having similar associations as merciless). While both words can potentially be associated with cruelity or brutality, such actions are not inherent to the application of either word.

For a simpler perspective, ruthlessness and merciless both refer to certain states of indifference. Indifference, of course, doesn't naturally incline additional effort, be it positive, or negative effort such as torture. In other words, if someone engages in cruelity in conjunction with ruthless or merciless perspectives, it isn't because they're behaving without mercy or pity. It's because they're inclined to torture to begin with [or otherwise have a purpose for engaging in such]. Obviously, this would be contrary to Rimaru's entire character.

Also, for further distinction:
Ruthlessness would be the appropriate word if you leave someone to their own outcome without assisting them (such as leaving someone starving to their suffering, or otherwise not lending a hand when you could) or when you're doing something solely because it's necessary, regardless of the cost (with both examples, because you're putting aside feelings of pity).
Being merciless, on the other hand, indicates you're actively devaluing lives with your own actions (as mercy is something someone personally grants).
Hence, Rimaru's actions in this chapter were fairly quintessential in regards to what being merciless represents.

This chapter was badass, but Megido was more powerful than this in the LN, I can't believe they toned down the power of the spell and skipped all the badass chaos and death that was unleashed with the spell. Can't wait for what's coming next
The three archdemons being summoned is so badass and the fight of the archdemon leader vs Razen, when he finds out what the boss archdemon really is he'll despair, can't wait to see this

I don't need the story of a nameless Farmus soldier, I need demon lord evolution

I don't really think Meggido works visually here, it looks like projectile paths rather than an attack of some kind. It feels like that takes some of the, oomph out of it, plus the fact that it doesn't really look like it's killing an army of 10000, more like a 1/10 of that at best.

For those intrested in what happens to the king and the church guy
and Razen (since he is still alive)
here is a small excerpt from the LN (copied from the Slime Reader at Tensurafan):
Indeed, they were squeezed in the form of living meatloaf.

Shion has turned them into inhuman abominations.

She skinned them one thin layer of skin at a time, but not so much as to kill them; their peeled away layers of flesh exposed the muscle underneath she then decided to slice off their meat piece by piece…… Shion has been practicing fish skinning with living people, and she even ensured that the ones getting skinned won’t feel any physical pain during the process…….

Using her unique skill 「Cook」, she was able to push the captives to the point of psychological breakdown. Once they reached their (physical) limits, she would treat them with healing potion and reverse the process to start over.

comes off small scale considering there are over 10,000 humans being killed by this one attack, possibly 20,000 like in the LN. i think the total Farmus force was 15k in the WN and 20k in the LN.

I think in the LN Merciless killed like 10k by itself. correct me if im wrong its been awhile.

I hope we get a Razen POV describing the horror of Merciless, with thousands of screaming voices being silenced at once. Far more terrifying than just 20 dogeza guys falling down.
