@RadioactivePanda I think the book never explicitly says the Duke and Sarion citizens are elves is because of how differently their empire is recognized. Sarion technology, like Dwarvan tech, is highly advanced, so the human nations recognize them, but most human nations will hunt elves outside of Sarion. Sarion empire elves aren't really what we call elves by 'essence'. Most elves in the world live in small villages and have low technological advancements.
Sarion are what theire name suggests: a "Sorcerer" empire, which is made of both humans and elves.
In the WN, the Sarion Sorcerers don't really emphasize their heritage.
They even use artificial elven bodies for scout and meeting work.
@boogle If you ever have read about the eight immortals, demon lords are the same. They are almost immortal and are like superstars with wealth and power; they have their own agenda. They can't move carelessly (you'll find out later about bigger powers), and those at the very top (Millim and the oldest existences) don't really care about conquering the world. They just laze around and work on their hobbies. Some wait for interesting events to take part in like Veldora.
They are just like retired old people. With their own countries, they just drown in their pleasures.
@JohnFuckingWick Rimuru is still a beg below Milim (who wiped an entire country 2000 years ago, while she wasn't even a DL). She and her uncle Veldora are the oldest and most primordial beings born.
But, Rimuru is still a true DL with a power of 20k sacrifices; he is more powerful than the DL we've seen. I think Milim clocks around 60-100k. Moreover, 2 chapters from now,
Rimuru has the most Ultimate Skills (4). The strongest DL only have around 2. His executive subordinates, Shion, are almost as strong as Frey and other DL.
Another thing, Milim actually planned out having Rimuru taking out Clayman to solidify his position as a DL. She's more cunning than the little girl she is
wait can't millim be the one to kill clayman? and lmao because of the gift that rimuru give to everyone shion is on par of the other DL? how about the others? can't wait to see how powerful rimuru will become
@JohnFuckingWick It's not a skill. "Haki" can roughly be translated to "aura", and in this case, Rimuru released a small amount of his suppressed mana/powers, like what the dwarven king did to test the guy.
He's the king of a country, calling the duke just Elalude-san should be more than enough given their positions. Even doing what Gazel does of dropping the honorifics should be alright but I guess they do it because they've known each other for a long time.
Great ch. as interesting as it may be to watch politics in the style of Genjitsushugisha, to seem them open, sincere and simple like this is refreshing and eases the evolution of the story.
@tralxus
Milim is in Frey's territory, Lion Guy is supposedly dead.
Spoilers
Milim is only pretending to be controlled and lion guy is still alive
Hell, Milim had to drop several of her natural defences just so claymans ability could make a dent.
