On the one hand, I totally get the emotional aspect of where this is going, so I get why ties were cut.

On the other hand, I don't know that the grandfather would maintain the "never show your faces again" position when Millie turns out to be a recipe mill; if he were to insist, there'd be a very good chance he'd lose his position within the guild for failing in his responsibility for looking out for the best interests of the guild. If he were to put his personal feelings ahead of guild business, he'd be quickly ousted.

The fact the parents didn't think of this is really kind of bothersome.

OK, this makes much more sense. I thought this might go the "overprotective father hates son in law " route which annoys me a lot.
To me this explanation is only very slightly more reasonable than Gramps being a helicopter and it doesn't fit what we saw from him last chapter.

Private matters should be separate from professional ones. But it's not always possible. I just hope nothing bad happens at that merchant association place.

Like to see the progression from here

It makes more sense for a parent to go no-contact with their daugher, because her daughter died, and she fostered a baby relatively soon after?

In other words, the grandparents are more traumatized than the parents, who were the ones who lost a child? That makes more sense, than an over protective dumbo grandpa?

Hold on so the guildmaster is supposedly mom's grandfather, so he's what, FL's great grandpa? Then how old is the mom, again?

I mean. I can understand it. When a big loss like that happens, those who felt strongly won't act the most reasonably.

Or they might be concerned more with reputation so the town gossiping would bother them.

Stuff like this happens in real life after all.

Thanks for the update!

i mean depending on when this takes place she could still be fairly young for a mom (I would prolly expect her being in her early 30s but if the author is like "actually she's still 22" i wouldn't be surprised lol)

Looking at the official raw, seems like this series updates monthly.
though there's 2 more chapters still not translated so there's still some backlog

Wow, what scum. Nobody is feeling more pain about the loss than the parents, and their family is going to cut ties with them because they took that grief and used it to save an abandoned child? Congratulations! Grandpa sucks!
