The beginning felt more like the perents just didn't know how to properly run and maintain their inn, rather then society as a whole not knowing what proper hygiene and sanitation is.

Excellent point! A sweep and dusting would go a long way. I recall that they are from nobility, and so perhaps they are not schooled in the household arts.

So the prince thinks MC is his niece but looking back at chapter 1 that doesn't seem to be the case.

Maria could definitely be a shortening of Marianne, but the husband from chapter 1 has a wildly different character design and appears much older.

God, this had me rereading chapter 1, and I'd forgotten the stupid ass reason her parent's flipped out and abandoned her was just that they thought she was bald (something perfectly normal) because she actually had blond hair. Everyone in that fucking mansion was apparently blind because they couldn't even see it when up close, and apparently no one ever touched her head

Yeah. Plus the difference in appearance could just be explained by aging, maybe?? Lol, the guy could’ve grown a moustache and changed his hairstyle for all we know.

But yeah… do those parents not even know that blonde babies’ hair (for the most part) isn’t visible?? Or well, harder to see.

Also can’t tell if the priest is his brother or the woman in the flashback. People are saying the prince is her uncle, but not sure how that is the case entirely, lol.

Both the Prince and the Priest mention Maria and her Child is dead, not Disappear or anything.

Well, assuming the maid relayed that she left her out in the freezing cold and not at the church (on a doorstep) as instructed (oddly enough)… At that point, it can just be inferred that like “Oh, yeah, that baby definitely didn’t survive and probably froze to death.” Could see that being the case.

Unless they explicitly state that they went to the funeral and saw the bodies, which I don’t think they did, then that’s always a possibility, tbh.

But the three seashells sounds like a practical solution...
