Different culture, different world, its kinda rude to judge, until a few centuries ago people used to cut each others heads, public executions, comment about age difference on this kind of world makes no sense, people from royalty and nobles from the real world used to born married, even before pregnancy there was deals for the first child being married with the first child of other family, or even unborn child's with "old" people.
It's no big deal, at least they had somewhat of a choice on the matter.

Apparently it makes more sense to people in that world to strike stones of various kinds together to make fire, or placing mud-containers inside a fire to carry water with, than to use the versatile tool they can direct with their mind - magic - to achieve similar tasks.

edit: And another show of that abusive culture of that country, where an older sister hitting her younger brother (hard and in the head) for no reason other than a whim is considered as wonderful and something that should happen. Can't wait to see how that young girl is going to showcase their culture of theft being ok, maybe she will make mc give her stuff using her status as a pretext? Or why not use force to steal the sugar from either the chef or the mc (or both) like all the maids?

I really want to see those white knights defending the sister after this chapter.
I'm sure the way she acted is perfectly acceptable, right?

I'm still more irritated with the MC inaction than anything else so far...

"In this world the concept of using magic to help with everyday life hasn't really crossed people's minds..."

It's shit like that which really drives me nuts about isekai stories. Isekai authors have the tendency to treat the native inhabitants of the world like they're complete, total morons. It never even crossed their minds? Most people spend a lot more time doing "everyday life" stuff than they do fighting...that's why it's called 'everyday' you know. And we're supposed to believe that it just never even occurred to them to use magic to help out with that stuff? Especially when it's so trivial for the protagonist to do it...

You can say it's a fantasy world so different rules and what not, but unless everyone in that world is just completely braindead this just doesn't make sense.

@mahtan
not defending but it bears acknowledgement that rather than abusive she's just being a typical annoying sibling. Hell, my own older sister used to steal shit out of my wallet as I watched her. We got into a big fist fight over it. Yeah, you might think kicking her hard enough to throw her across the room was an appropriate reaction but, looking back on it in our 30s, it wasn't a big deal.

...certainly wasn't worth the worry if the scar tissue on her brain that might shorten her life was from when we were bloodied up and wailing on eachother...

Please keep in mind, their marriage is actually appropriate ages for medieval nobles, girls would be married around her age, and men could be older depending on factors.

@Kevadu : I agree, it is not every series, but to many are like that. It can make sense if magic is restricted, very difficult to learn, or rare and as a result only the wealthy use it, so they have no reason to develop life magic since they have servants for that stuff. But even then it should be the stuff they learn as part of control and fitness training. If the general public has access to magic, every day uses should be common. In (at least older, have not checked in a while) D&D editions the most basic spell was a cantrip, which was basically a catch all for "everyday life" magic.

@Kevadu, Yea, another thing i remember is that they have potatoes, yet still suffer from starvation, like they didn't think, that plant that grows everywhere, is extremely resistant , easy in farming and gives lot of calories should be grown in bigger quantities.

i still haven't had a full grasp of the world's setting about their magic, so i will just assume that magic is quite rare and mostly only be used as weapon
if that is so, it's like you are asking them to use firearms or military-grade technology in their everyday life
sure that some technology we have for everyday life nowadays started as military purpose techs, but they can only be used like that when the world is a relatively safer place to live (which i doubt will happen soon in medieval fantasy world with monsters and such)

so, those with above average magical power got recruited to the military, while those with below average magic power tend to forget about it altogether and instead do something better for their livelihood
even if some of them are bright enough to use it to better their life, it will at most only affect their immediate surroundings since it will be just for mundane things (limited by their low power) and they have no means to spread it around (no mass media)
these stories' MCs usually have overpowered magic and somewhat influential family/connections so you can't use them as example

yes. use fire to consume the oxygen in your enclosed room. then open the window to replace with fresh air and let out all the heat. back to cold room.
