Why does author dunks on rapiers so much - considering main character did not wear notable armor in past life it would be his deadliest poison.
Now that I think about it (too much), nearly all weapons evolved to fit their often quite niche purpose and more importantly to accommodate available materials. Late medieval weapons near high medieval weapons to late bronze age weapons are incredibly bizarre being compared to each other.
From the previous panels, the main character, in his past life, seems to be one-handing a zweihander; a zweihander, a weapon literally called a "two-hander". I don't think there's much thought behind the swords, LOL.
Yeah, the dunking on rapiers is bollocks. If they're going to be fighting on the battlefield, in armour, the rapier is not the best sword and the instructor should've said something. If their choice of weapon is going to get them killed, shouldn't it be the duty of a teacher to prevent that? Also, if the issue is the armour, merely changing sword types isn't going to help much.
If they're not going to wear armour, pokey-pokey is just as, if not more, deadly than slashy-slashy. Have a rapier with a broader blade, and you've got pokey-slashy, stabby-owie. Plus, with many of the swords on the longer side, it's the shorter katana at a disadvantage, bruh, mangaka.
