He agreed with that sentiment if my memory is correct. To the point that one of the knights had to knock him out/put him to sleep.
Also, the maid was right there. She could have lifted the girl over to the father, but noooo no doing that. Yeah yeah, I know the risks, but again, she could have wrapped herself around the girl and jumped. She could have tried to turn it around before it decided to panic or turned it around a bit after.
Plenty of choices.
I find it a shame she died. It was somewhat an act that makes up for a fuckup she already did. Not fully, but atl she tried with her limited options by that point.
Yes, I know she was doing it for her family, but again, she could have used the father to make up for that issue. She kidnapped an
infant for gods sake. There is no excuse for such an action. It was completely clear to anyone she wouldn't be allowed to live.
She should have been trialed and irons put on her. But it was kind of clear from the start she wasn't exactly very bright.
