Warning to vegans: Look away :pacman: .
There are some flaws here and there in this manga, but I just read free manga, so nothing to complain. I've read (and am still reading) some atrocities (even it being free, and no, the problem was surely not the TL, but the manga itself, and if the word CGI makes you remember something you know my top one for this list that I'm still following.) so this is fine for me (6/10). It does have potential though, for whichever way the author wants to take it.

This was going fine until the narration explained he's above average with cheat skills.
Why can't we have an isekai story where the protagonist is just average in terms of powers but know how to use them well enough to get by?

I guess being a jack of all trades would make you pretty capable in day do day life. Imagine having mediocre to low knowledge and skill on everything, it's the equivalent of having dedicated decades to learning and practicing. You may not be an expert in anything, but skills and knowledge from different fields tend to create a sinergy.

Oh, yeah, thanks for the exposition text, telling us shit we would have found out eventually and probably already guessed ahead of time anyway... We REALLY needed that!! >___<
Oh well... That's what you get for being a sucker for isekai. 80-90% trash, but at least it's got enough fantasy nonsense to take our minds off of this life and all of it's crap for a second.

They can handwave anything, but I'm not about to let them say that roasted fresh meat of a large wild animal with no salt nor any seasoning is gonna taste any good.
WAS THINKING EXACTLY THIS!!! No way in hell, even if i wanted to taste meat again for years, that unsalted meat taste anything near to good, edible? Of course. Good? Never.
Mangaka must know jack shit about cooking or the extremely rare breed that do tolerate saltless food.

It's not just being unsalted meat. It's fresh meat and one that you have hunted/slaughtered and dismantled yourself. You're going to smell this certain thing that only fresh meat has, and you're going to notice the slightest traces of it for a while. If had looked at the animal's face even once, the smell is going to remind you of that. You're gonna need some processing like dry aging or smoking, or use a plenty of seasoning to hide that smell.

I'm sure there are stories like that but they usually start like "five years in" or so

I guess desperation adds flavor but yeah i'd expect boar meat to be 'gamey'. I tried rabbit once in a cream sauce, not the worst but def not something i'd pay for personally versus the isekai logic of 'monsters taste good' but you'd think you'd have to worry about the organs/intestines too

What to do with a boar that you killed? Well gut it, skin it, and turn it into all sort of pork dishes. Also preserve and cure some of it and turn it into bacon and ham!
