Meat is back in the menu albeit considering it is a predator it would not taste as good.

Isekai stuff might logic away any gamey taste deepening on the authors preference

In solo farming at one point mc takes down a locust infestation and it ended up tasting like chicken meat to him when he cooked it lol

So, either that bear is going to his doom to become food, or there's going to be some Marsha and the Bear show for the little kid.

MC is going to need to make some vinegar to soak that bear meat in to remove that gamey taste.
Think milk would be a better option though, unless you wanted to pickle it...

OTOH he has plenty of options for medicinal herbs in the forest, and meny of those make for a suitable method of removing gaminess from wild meats.

Or as others have said above, isekai fantasy meats can be anything from poisonously inedible to orgasmically delicious. All depending on the whims of the author.

Omnivore, so it depends on what it ate.

Bear meat irl, gotta watch out for pollution buildup in the food chain.

I tried bear once a long time ago as was a part of culinary training. Chef said because of how varied a bears diet tends to be the taste of bear meat can differ widely but it'll always be pretty gamey. What I had was kind of like beef or pork. The chef I worked with said he could never completely get rid of the gaminess of bear meat. I've never gotten to cook bear myself so I can't really comment beyond that.

Milk always worked well for me when cooking wild game.

Thank you for the translation!

"Marsha" huh? That was... unexpected.
Particularly as there's no goddess of alcohol named anything even remotely similar, especially in Japan.

TL;DR that's because the goddess's name is actually Matsuo, it's just not explained properly.

The readers are expected to identify actual god's name which is written on the shrine plaque and make the connection, but the scanlator screwed up (maybe because they used Google or AI, who knows).
This is the shrine torii, which was shown in the manga panel. The name on the plaque says "Matsuo Ookami", which was mistranslated as simply "great god" on page (again, maybe because it's machine/AI).

I'm not sure how that becomes Ma-sha, but I'm assuming it's partly because the goddess is sometimes called "Matsuo-sama" 松尾様 and somehow if you shorten it, you can get Ma-sha?

(TBH if I look at the shrine, officially it says the god is a male god name Ooyamakui, but maybe there's more than one god enshrined there, but anyway)

Cheers for the info.

One possibility is that the scanlator isn't a native English speaker, so they translated the raw into their native language first and then into English; since it's a name, they just got an approximation of how the name sounds in their tongue and then translated that to English.

No, the fairy's name is literally Ma-sha マーシャ in the raw.
Maybe it's explained better in the novel or something, but she's exclusive to the published version and not the original webnovel so I can't check.
