I gather the co-worker is kind of the childhood friend in the romantic approach, whereas boss lady did save his contact as Mr Handsome.

On an unrelated note, for the life of me I'll never be able to figure out the mindset of people who save people they're in contact with with such obvious names. I mean, I kind of get how you'll save them as something if you don't know their name, like "blonde jogger from park" or something like that, but she does know his name. Heck, I did that, until I knew their name and then the preliminary name gets moved to nick name or other notes for the contact.
And it's not like you never leave your phone lying around, and some random person; friends, co-workers, etc - or that person in particular even! - might see such details on the lock screen. Imagine glancing on your coworker's phone as they receive a message and the contact name is something embarrasing, or insulting, or otherwise easily misinterpreted, like, dunno, "Saggy Balls". An obviously onfortunate name to receive, especially if it may be because of a memorable drunk conversation the two had and they've saved each other as that name as a joke.

Like I said, I don't really get it.

Nah, it's super weird that she seems to already be pretty into him. Especially since the author brought up his original desk mate as a possible love interest. Why force a love triangle on a relationship that's going to progress so quickly?

[Still, I do like seeing an MC be a friendly kind of assertive rather than standing on the sidelines.]

Yeah him trying to re gift those sweets is just hard to forget, really reframes his kindness in a more sinister way

It didn't seem sinister to me, the sequence of events seemed awkward but really kind. He knew she wanted the sweets which is why he thought of re-gifting it to her. He felt awkward and/or bad about giving it to her resulting in that moment where he accidently taunted her with the sweets. After that he wanted to make it up to her so he went out of his way to make his own at home so he could still give her the sweets she wanted.

To me that doesn't read as sinister or malicious, it's more like he is just someone whose a bit socially inept who wants to do something nice for his boss but also isn't sure of how close they are and/or how close they can be.
