I would say Nano felt heads over heels for Shizuka the moment she saw her in the cute school swimsuit.

I like to think of them as a platonic couple or a big sister pampering her toddler little sister.

Could see it like that, could see it as Nano's subconscious in the form of dream Rentarou straight up confirming she loves her. To be very literal with the Japanese text, Rentarou says "I came here today in Nano's beloved cute cute Shizuka-chan's appearance", which as you can probably see is either a little ambiguous or very blatant depending on how you want to read it. It was difficult to decide how exactly to translate it.

I'm not denying that Nano loves Shizuka, but Nano has always treated Shizuka like her daughter, such as in the second baby chapter where she said the exact same thing about Shizuka as she did about a baby, and later tried to feed her negation drug.

or the time with Mimimi where she could only list cute aspects instead of beauties, or the time she wanted to take Shizuka to Disneyland and someone literally asked "are you her mother?" And countless other times such as these.

In conclusion, I've never seen Nano act in a romantic way towards Shizuka, only in a motherly way.

theres nothing wrong with these kinds of chapters, but one thing that kind of bugs me is that they feel like padding. like they want more chapters between each new girlfriend's introduction chapter to avoid feeling like theyre rushing to the next gf.

its not that i dont like these chapters, but imo, theres no need for padding, theres lots of things that the author could do that would make for interesting chapters just based on the large cast and premise of the story.

• how many of the gfs have we gotten to meet their parents/family? off the top of my head, i think its only 7 or 8, but really its only 5 or 6 because some of them have the same family.
• how many of the families are aware of the fact that their daughters are part of a harem?
• how many chapters have each of the gfs had to shine on their own in general? because it feels like a lot of them have only had 1-2 chapters. we're pretty limited in what we know about most of their pasts as well.
• do any of them have friends outside of the harem, whats their deal? how do they feel about it?
• if some of the girls are keeping it a secret, we could explore that too.
• and you could also apply some of these things to rentarou as well.
• and if all else fails, they could still go ahead and make more chapters about the dynamics between the gfs. they do make these kinds of chapters, but theres no lack of directions they could go with it.

also, on my first point point about them wanting to avoid back to back chapters with new gfs. the best way to avoid rushing and not taking time on each gf would be to actually take time on each gf and give a few chapters about her before moving on.

im not trying to be overly critical, i get its meant to be lighthearted and comedic and i do enjoy it. there is room for these kinds of chapters too, but still, this story has got a fairly interesting premise that i dont think is being fully utilized. earlier in in the story it seemed like we got more chapters like that, but the longer its gone on and the more characters they introduce, the less we get of that it seems. some of my favourite chapters have been the ones where we get to meet the girls families.

I actually agree, no one wants that, including me of course. but the story being hijacked and turned into a forced Yuri by the Fandom is almost just as bad.

And the worst part is that it affects the frequency the author includes Yuri fanservice, (which I think is justice, it's sacred, and should be protected above all things), but if every time one of the girls look at another one for more than 5 seconds it becomes another fan pairing, then things get stale and the autor stops drawing them, like to name an example... hakari and karane moments. (last time they interacted in any way besides throwing jabs at each other was almost a 100 chapters ago)

I THINK they're in the clear vis-a-vis death once they admit their feelings and join 'Rentarou's family'.

Think of it this way: Rentarou is soulmates with each of the girlfriends. Theoretically, by the transitive property, each of the girlfriends are also soulmates with the 99 other girlfriends, so Rentarou is NOT unique: Each of the Family have 100 soulmates.

But... That goes literally against what little lore the manga has, Rentarou's case with the God's mistake it's supposed to be special, even having one soulmate is supposed to be rare.

Head canon is supposed to be able to fit in Canon even if it isn't official, not blatantly contradict it.

This is mostly self-aware comedy. There's a bit of romance drama sprinkled in, but for the most part its a beautiful expose of a girl's club wherein the focus of said club is CHAD OF THE MILLENNIUM, RENTAROU AIJOU.

It's very worth reading for the comedy. If you come into it expecting nothing but romance, that might be disappointing for you.

Outside of almost confessing to her during the parachute jump from the floating island, I suppose you could say that, though obviously she's not a very romantically minded person to begin with. What this dream sequence suggests to me is that while there's some kind of overlap in the feelings she has for Rentarou and Shizuka (that's the whole reason the dream makes any sense and the joke works), consciously she wants to keep those feelings separated.
