Yes guys, I'm unfortunately late to the party. Sorry, not sorry.
I have to admit that while I love this series, I too am more and more bothered by the yuri fanservice the author keeps shoving in. It's frustrating that some girls had more physical intimacy between themselves than with Rentarou.
@Lex79 Same, and I couldn't have said it better than you did, therefore I'm quoting. We have Hakari and Akane hooking up almost every chapter, Hahari trying to mess with everyone, etc all while the MC gets hardly any action (which is dumb, considering the MC is the pillar in harem works), is this what's considered fun/comedy nowadays? I don't understand the logic of yuri pandering in a harem series. It was never a thing anyway because there's no point. I doubt it it's going to stop tho now that it's gotten pretty popular even with people who don't even like harem stuff but are flocking in just because of this fanservice.
@DrHizzle A true yandere would be difficult to fit in, even considering how absurd this series is, since you know, yanderes don't really care about anyone else aside from their love interest.
@SuperOniichan Most of yuri/yaoi fans are elitists since as you've already described, their choice of content is fairly small so they tend to scatter to straight works. This has been true ever since I care to remember, and I've been around for a good while. Def one of the most toxic and infuriating crowds.
@Crevanille When I started reading all this discussion, DxD was the first harem to pop up in my head and I'm glad I wasn't the only one. DxD has imo the best harem dynamics I've ever seen, and boy, I've seen plenty. Having one of the biggest harems there is, with more than 12 girls in love with Issei and a fairly good portion of them actually living alongside him, you don't see this kinda shit. Everyone is part of one big family, they're very well developed and very good friends with each other, but they don't date nor hook around with each other like they do here, this is the only part I disagree with you, the members are clearly very romantically devoted to Issei. I've not read Shin DxD yet but I assume this hasn't been changed because the author knows what he's doing.
In regards to Shinmai Maou, the orgies are always with the MC being the pillar/focus, IIRC, right? They don't have fun by themselves, which is the point of this whole yuri discussion.
@Ultraman You'll hardly see people complaining in /r/manga about something like yuri or yuribait, cuz the ones who do complain usually get swarmed by the fanatics, so people just don't voice what they dislike. And I disagree, when a chapter has yuri pandering, the threads have more than a "small mention" of it.
@lisaisa They don't give a damn about the criticism, but love when we gobble up their works, praise them and help them with their path to success by spreading the word, what a bunch of simple minded folks! Maybe if they listened to criticism (not just western) they wouldn't have so many series axed because of poor decisions.
