AFAIR a whole bunch of people all over the planet were summoned into "the tower" with the only way to return to the normal world being to conquer all the tower's levels.

It appears as though beings from other worlds/realities have kinda the same thing going on and apparently one or more of each of those is selected as a "Climber" but the tower they have to defeat appears to be made up of other people's worlds/planets with each having a "Guardian" as a Boss mob.

The particular spin behind this novel's/manga's system and thus the purpose of the Towers, Climbers and Guardians will probably be explained at some point in the story although I do expect it will be Grade A bullshit kinda like
