Gotta say i like how this story have kept changing yet stuck to its origin so well. This is still the same story but we are actually doing stuff as arcs go by.
It doesn't have that feeling many tales have where your stuck in place at the same "school setting" or whatever, which is kinda funny considering this is the school arc.

So I'm guessing that "voice" is herself, or a mixture of dragon, cartaphilus, and herself.
and it makes sense now, that dude who was "checking" the book had switched it for a fake, and that was why it was flaking. Now we just have to find out how important this book is and what it does.
Edit: I looked at the previous chapter, and noticed that the dude who was checking the book is the same dude in the last page of this chapter getting yelled at by Mr. Angry Man. Either it's a double or an illusion, or he's faking it the whole time.
Hah. Lucy Webster and her "spiders." Wonder why she doesn't care much for her family. I guess we'll find out.
What's up with Philomela? Kudos to Chise's amazing sniff power, though.
I'm wondering if I like Chise's new haircut or not. I do like longer hair, but I reckon I'll get used to her new hairstyle very soon,

Cartaphilus is going to disappointed that she is the type who don't care about that. She is no stranger to causing pain, and she knew it.

Ah, Chise understanding exactly what everyone else thinks when they are worried about her. That's satisfying to read with Ruth going off at her.
As not expecting the auctioner to show up here though, as Lucy's brother no less. Kind of feel it's going to be amusing if Lucy ever learns that he and Chise know each other because he sold Chise to Elise.
Cartaphilus showed up too here. It's hard to judge what he wants to see here but he's sort of right when it comes to Chise. She is very hard to kill apparently, especially for someone who was meant to have a very short lifespan.
And ever since all of that, it's interesting seeing the effects it has all had on Chise. I mean she basically recognised Philomena instantly as bits of dust/particles/whatever floating past, and whenever she acts in a particular way in relation to her replaced eye it always has the art a bit creepier or sinister. I can't wait to see where this all leads.
