I'm pretty sure that when the royal family finds out that the relative in whose care she had been placed by their orders (did I read that correctly? or was it only approval?) were abusing her the same way her father had been (which is what incited him to attack to begin with) and either pretending that the royal family was giving them the right to do so or had deluded themselves such, they will not get off lightly. The more information is revealed about her relatives, the more stupid and conceited I realize they are. Their ridiculous contempt is one thing, their provoking him, when they clearly did something very wrong is another. Too dumb to live, much?
And, anyone else thinking that our little protagonist does have power but can't use it yet (for what ever the reason)?
