Thank God it ended. How hard it was to read this shitty teenage drama in the last few chapters. It's almost as if the author forgot that his MC is not a typical unsure teen schoolboy, but a fucking war veteran. Holy fuck.
Same feeling. I sped through 4 chapters because holy shit, this trope sucks. Like Rurin's grandpa said, wtf Ell.

Thank you QUANTUM, for releasing the story up to this chapter all at once.
(Unless y'all wanted 4 chapters of people complaining about the story and hating it)

most war vets dont allow their spouse to be kidnapped
tbh I can understand it somewhat. in the past El has once decided to be selfish (lazing around in the academy) and he had to learn the hard lesson that this cost the lives of many, including a bunch of his friends. so he attoned by fighting for the greater good (and becoming a war hero).

now he was once again faced with the same decision: being selfish or the greater good (of the black dragons).
ptsd induced undecisiveness basically.
it maybe wasn't written / presented in the best way possible, but I have no problem with the events itself.

I DO however have a problem with Rurins reaction. She was like a deer in the headlights, just letting everything happen to her. No black dragon except her mother ever treated her gently, even her grandfather turned cold (outwardly, due to a wrong sense of protection). Why did she even let them take her? She may be young by dragon standards, but by now she should know what she wants from her life and stand up for it. but no, just like a doll she lets herself get dragged back.

So: his reaction: weak and unlikeable, but somewhat understandable in regards to internal story logic.
her reaction: weak and unlikeable, but NOT understandable in regards to story logic.

conclusion: author needs to get better

(everything imho of course)

IMHO agreed that the lack of agency for Rurin rankles. Not only are none of the other characters caring about what she wants, but she herself isn't, either.

I also agree that the premise of this arc isn't too bad, but the execution has been shaky. Rurin's backstory was good and emotionally affecting but the present-day events have unfortunately devolved into an idiot plot - drama "kept in motion solely by virtue of the fact that everybody involved is an idiot". Or at least, everyone sure is acting like idiots.

The other black dragons are fully aware of how Ell can fuck them up and yet they're still going to play with fire here? Ell is - well, I don't want to be too hard on him, since he's still confronting his own feelings and everything throughout this, but still - he's just going to let them take Rurin, just like that, after everything they've been through? And Rurin still completely wants to stay with Ell, enough that she refuses Jerkbag's advances, but somehow also not enough to where she amounts any resistance to being put through this, at all, even a little?

Maddening. Can we have our couple bash some heads and get to kissing already please? I swear, if this manhwa ends once they get together...

honestly, most of the dragons seem to be trash just the same as most of the human nobility. It’s trash with a few diamonds. It’s lovely to see them receive comeuppance but I wish it didn’t take so long.

The buildup is very tense... Great arc by far.

edit : and thank you for uploading the scanlation up to this point. I can't imagine what will happen if you guys stopped at chapter 68 or 69. My whole month will be ruined.

Medidana knows about Ellison's achievements, but do the rest of the dragons? I forget.

It's kind of hilarious that the dragons still act like they're hot shit when the guy who's killed tons of them is standing in the room.

Well, he's already got a bunch of kills to his name. Wouldn't be a bad time to upgrade the number into a statistic.

I assume Rurin just is too scared of tarnishing the name of her mother any further.
And we've seen trough the series that Ell is not good at making choices on the spot.
I still agree that the way it was shown isn't good.
