Eh, I think he'd lie if it was in his best interest. Or in her best interest. Forgot if he's already done so.
On the other hand, she has a point in that he is trying way too hard to protect her, from others and from her own naïvety. Which means she can trust him, more or less. He might deceive her, but he won't harm or betray her.
I like how she's so easily able to turn on her brightness.
