Real talk tho, i too think that going straight to sex would be too much, but i feel them having some skinship a bit bolder than just holding hands would be very in character and in line with the theme of the manga, they're not that innocent.
It's a coming of age story and stumbling around their own sexual discoveries is something every teenager does, i feel there can be a tasteful and "adult" way to show this without leaning too much into gooner territory, alas i am no writer so i wouldn't really know how
