Hanzawa caught them in the library in chapter 101 "I Want To Be Closer To Yamada", before they started dating in chapter 113.

Yamada really wanted to have a love talk with her. Though Hanzawa wasn't receptive of the idea at first, Ichikawa then comments that he keeps seeing them together in the library also with Hara-san.

The pickup artists incident is in chapter 141, which ends in Yamada's apartment with Ichikawa accidentally finding Yamada's newly bought lingerie.

I completely forgot about the date Yamada and Hanzawa went on together.

Hen (変) does indeed mean weird, but she says it in kana so she's just making that sound without any meaning attached to it. So it's really just ehen of hen, hence ahem of hems.

She's a supporting character. I don't think paparazzi would be crawling out to get her. But the rationale isn't important, I'm just talking about how reputation and perception is paramount in a face culture and this is reflected in Japan's libel laws.
