I might be wrong, but I think this is a misinterpretation. Kyo masturbated several times -especially in the first four volumes. He also did it after he talked with Adachi -so I also think there is no (hidden) complex. For example, in Chapter 56 Yamada is in his room, and he checks his trash bin (plus the magazine is still there).
i said scared of sexuality, not scared of masturbation. sexuality requires an actual woman.

Well, you started your post with "same reason" so I assumed you imply the same for masturbation. Seems I misunderstood your original post.

he's not averse to masturbating to his girlfriend because it's masturbating. he's averse to it because it's too similar to sex with his girlfriend, and he's averse to that for the reason i gave.

there's also an element where he'll be more averse to masturbating to her than to sex with her, because he believes that the former leaves her as an object without agency and the latter is some sort of equal consensual exchange. this belief is a product of modern emasculation in the same way, since sex is inescapably about the man physically dominating and acting upon the woman, not vice versa

Thanks for the clarification @cksn

I think your reasoning is correct, but I disagree with the very last sentence ("This belief ..."). I think it is in the eye of the beholder whether such a thought pattern is considered emasculation. Furthermore, I think, from a (modern) man point of view, you would only consider it as emasculation if you perceive it as such (e.g., "sex is inescapably about the man physically dominating"). Likewise, I am sure there are many people who don't associate sex first with dominates, but with affinity and unity. To be honest, I think there is no one truth because this discussion depends on your own point of view (or what you believe in). Sure, if you look, e.g., back in history it was for sure considered as such but that means nothing for the present.

Love how Ichikawa realizes the important things even if they aren't the things he needs to do right now.

I wonder what happened between chapters 135 and 136, that the side note sign was changed from a white diamond in a square to a double circle?

Why does the author consider jerking it to your gf as a bad thing? This has come up before and I assumed it was just some silly thing but it came up again here.
It's not necessarily that the author does, it's more that Kyo has been hyper self-conscious about over-sexualizing Anna ever since the first conversation with Adachi about his crush on Anna (Vol2, Ch29, Pg3 for the start of the interaction). Adachi commented about how he stopped 'getting off' to Anna and mentioned something he heard about that being a sign it's real, so Kyo, who had often jerked it to Anna up to then but realized his own feelings as well about a volume prior, started to worry about his affections being tainted by sexual desire, so he's probably tried to rein it in since then and started to demonize his lust (which would explain that, when he started hallucinating the alter-egos based on Nigorikawa from Kimi-iro Octave, the one that represents his lust is called 'Lucifer Nigorikawa' and has devilish/demonic features).

Also should take this moment to point out the author seems to be a rather dirty-minded woman. I heard one of her past works got pretty pervy.
