I will admit, on the dad thing, I don't even recall if I saw his dad in the anime (I can't say one way or another, that is), but his mom and sister stood out to me pretty well. And they absolutely loved Anna, and could tell he had bagged himself an amazing girl well before he realizes how close they're getting.
